Thanks Alex but I think all the bits that I need to look at are well hidden away and a fair few bits need to come off to get to look at them. Until I get back home all I can really do is go buy me a 1/2" drive breaker bar, some oil, some tubing and a big syringe so I can easily keep it topped...

Knocking on a rough road could be any of the bushes/joints on the suspension but the front anti roll bar drop links are very prone to failure and can be quite noisy. Cheap fix though... :thumb2 As zippy said the steering lock stops clunk on full lock if not greased.
