I've had a few xj's both petrol and diesel. 4.0ltr is a straight 6, great engine but obviously a bit thirsty. Diesel is a good engine if looked after. They are brilliant off road, bit of a lift and some decent tyres and sorted for pretty much all UK lanes. I would have another anytime but rust...

thanks for the ideas guys. I don't really want to drill any holes if i can help it, not on the body for sure. A roof rack is planned for sometime in the future so a light bar will be mounted front and back on that. I think i and going to try the LED spot lamps i have under the bumper on the tow...

I live on a pretty dark lane and reversing onto the drive in the dark is a pain at the best of times. I have discovered the reversing light on the Terrano is about the same as a candle on the bumper. Has anyone upgraded theirs in any way.? I will try an LED bulb and see if that helps.
