I live on a pretty dark lane and reversing onto the drive in the dark is a pain at the best of times. I have discovered the reversing light on the Terrano is about the same as a candle on the bumper. Has anyone upgraded theirs in any way.? I will try an LED bulb and see if that helps.

No-one has ever been happy with the reversing light, even after replacing the bulb with a brighter one. You have to add lights, any lights:thumb2

i thought as much. I may see if i can mount some on the tow bar just underneath the back. Just remembered i have a couple of new LED spotlights i was going to use on a bike but never got around to it :thumb2

I fitted a pair of square LED work lights, can get them on eBay similar price. I was worried they’d get damaged down near rear bumper so fitted on the roof with a pair of ip65 waterproof glands to pass the cable through but being ocd I filled the glands with tigerseal so they aint going to leak. Also got an over ride switch on side of boot so I can switch them on seperatly to reverse lights. Made a huge difference.
I also bought a cheap reverse camera kit off eBay, perfect accompaniment. Wife said she’d never use the camera now she wouldn’t be without it.

I've got a pair of eagle eye led lights in the bumper for the reversing lights.

Also got a pair of 55 watt HID lamps wired up independently through a relay for when it's really dark.

I added 2 x 21w lights to mine,

Worked well . But much better led lights about now

I'm putting in something similar to Jim, a three way switch in the cab for on/reverse/off and mounting the lights up on the roofrack.

thanks for the ideas guys. I don't really want to drill any holes if i can help it, not on the body for sure. A roof rack is planned for sometime in the future so a light bar will be mounted front and back on that. I think i and going to try the LED spot lamps i have under the bumper on the tow bar. I will wire them into the harness for the reversing light and see how that goes. Hope to get a chance to have a go at it later in the week.

Good call not drilling and mounting around bumper area. Just as an idea I’ve seen a lot of towbar wiring scotchlocked into wiring loom behind the bumper. If you don’t mind the extra effort bring your wires inside behind the boot trim at passenger side and splice into the wiring loom where it doesn’t get attacked by the weather and crap off the road.

For your roofrack, give SDV in Clitheroe a call, they did mine so should have the pattern still. Good price and good guys to deal with (much etter than the miserable sod in Bolton).

cheers for that Don :thumb2

I have a feeling they might have done one for me for a Discovery. I remember going up that way to collect a rack, just can't remember the name of the company

Reversing light cure !

I just avoid reversing especially at night!lol

:lol if I didn't live in the sticks that could be a plan

When we were young, stupid, reckless....and really had no sense......we would as a group in a motley variety of cars......old MG Midgets, B's, Heralds, Minis, Anglias etc etc.....drive down to the end of a very narrow winding lane......out on the Gower.....

Then turn our lights off and on our indicators, reverse back one behind each other......far too close......far too fast........:doh :nenau

Well, how we managed to do this without serious incident is now way beyond me......but we all of us to a man.....and a few girls......could reverse just about anything anywhere after that....
