Can your 4x4 do what this 1920's car could do, and still be driven?

That's amazing. If nothing else it's stopped me complaining about the state of the roads.

    Possible brake master cylinder problem

Just a thought... Had this 'sinking peddle' symtom (as opposed to 'spungy peddle' which usually indicates air in fluid or deflecting servo mount/cracked bulkhead) on 2 prievious cars (1 petrol & 1 diesel) & was, finaly (doh!) told by mecky that it was most likely a vaccuum leak in the pipeline...

    Stp oil treatment

As I was told by a Vauxhall dealer (re my 1973 1256cc Viva) if it's noisy it's working, if it's quiet ....then it's not. How true!

    Knocking when braking

Torque wrenches are all very well but they do need to be calibrated regularly to be of any use. Luckily this is quite easy to do (plenty of vids. on internet). However, DO make sure threads are clean & undamaged as this affects the reading quite a lot. The sparing use of thread locker fluid (as...

    Do you have bonnet soundproofing?

Ditto , on both counts LOL. I found adding 2SO has had a marked effect on reducing the noise.

Can I trust electric parking brakes?

Just come across post entitled 'suicide electric hand brake' on Vauxhall owners website. Thought it might be of interest/amusement so the jist of it is as follows: Electric hand brake applied itself, occasionaly, at speads of 15 mph + with frighteing reults. This happened on several differant...

    brakes

Or just try mixing it with water. Brake fluid will mix easily, engine oil will tend to globule. Used to (‘70’s) use old brake fluid to lubricate the water pump seals by adding ½ pint to the coolant. Can’t remember why but it made the pumps last longer LOL. Don't reccommend it now as it's corrsive!

    lumpy start from cold

If there is/was some sludge deposits in the fuel system then 2SO will tend to gently clean it out (but not as thoroughly as bio etc. which can cause very bad temporary blockages). However this is the first time I've heard of it possibly causing trouble. I go along with others on here: change...

    Front grill

Found out the hard way that T2 2.7L fits 3L but does not protrude quite so much. (3L bonnet sticks out more?).Not glaringly obvious unless you're very fussy. So if you fit a 3L to a 2.7L it will stick out about 1/2". Keep your eye on e-bay, they seen to be like buses: several at the same time...

    I miss my old Frontera

Thanks for website (it IS the one I was thinking of!). My old Frontera doesn't appear on it so am assuming the worst LOL.

    I miss my old Frontera

Don't start me off.....had over 13 reliable years out of my SWB 2L petrol. It was 15 y/o when I sold it for the Terrano (needed more luggage space & a auto capable of effortess towing. Much easier to drive & never got stranded, as opposed to Terrano which has left me at the mercy of Green Flag...

Can I trust electric parking brakes?

'Cause they're no good LOL. I consider that to be good news having had 5 Astras and soon to be looking for another.

Can I trust electric parking brakes?

I hired an Astra 2 years ago with electric parking brake, it was only a few months old at the time. The brake was 'automatic' as in: it switched itself on when the ignition was off...except for the one time I trusted it (without leaving it in gear as I normally do) when it rolled away as I got...

Congrats. Thank God it passed, I was on the verge of getting palpitations LOL. There's nothing like MOT time for stress.

    Nissan CD player

Just spent the last 3 hours removing & fiddling (ie. pocking it with a screw-driver) about with my CD changer. Don't know what was wrong with it (suspect sticking CD) or what I've done to get it working again! Everything was apparently working & making noizes but it would not edgect or play...

    Speedo Reading

Have finaly confirmed that speedo error (20%+ @ 30 mph falling to 10%+ as speed rises over 60 mph) also applies to odometer. Same run 0f 141 mles (according to satnav) reads 143 at average 55mph but 148 at average 50mph. Readings have been consistant over 4 runs. This is mostly m/w towing 1.6T...

    Nissan CD player

Has had very little use but was working fine earlier this year. Come to (TRY) to change CD's for hols. tomorrow & find it wont play, wont edject (but makes a noise!) & displays 'no disk' although it has 6 in it. I gather this is a common problem but has anyone got the answere to getting the...
