    Towing Speeds

Unless things have changed recently (well the past 10 years then LOL). 50mph on 'normal roads & duel carriageways with no central barrier 60 mph on M/W & D/C with central barrier. Since I got 'done' for speeding (36 in a 30 limit) when i first had my auto Terrano (I blame the auto as I'd lost...

    Caravan insurance

Caravan Guard are very good, I've used them several times over the years. The cheapest are not the best! Read the small print & note the benefits of such as CG. They have been excellent on both claims I have made, couldn't fault the service. Note that some co's will not insure unless 'van is in...

Has anyone any comments on Barum brand tyres? They are for road use only.

Weird problem, mil light on 3.0

I have same engine & have used 2SO for 18mths or more. No probs. (as yet LOL), but agree it may be gunk freed from tank by 2SO. In which case change of fuel filter should show improvement, at least until remaining gunk has worked it's way through again! Couled also be duff fuel so try somewhere...

Changing Rear LSD Oil AND Front Diff Oil

If rear sliding is caused by LSD oil being overdue for a change then I would recommend 2 oil changes carried out 50 to 100 miles apart. this will flush out any debris. the symptoms are likely to return fairly soon otherwise. In future don't leave it so long LOL. I was under the impression that...

Buying Advice Nissan 2004 D22 Pick Up

Nice one Banshee, I've come across lots of bad reports regarding the Navara, but this is the bee's knees! Even my daughter & I have had 2nd thoughts of changing her very unreliable (as per normal?) 2004 Discovery for a Navara. At least the Disco has been fixable at a reasonable price.......so...

    Auto box fluid

I've changed mine twice (only once on purpose, the 2nd time due to a burst cooler hose LOL). The following tips are from someone who knows a lot more on this subject than me. If the fluid looks at all dodgy or smells even slightly burnt or has been in for more than 25-30K then I would advise...

    Is your horn pooh!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's exactly what I had to do, as the existing wire was too thin to pass enough current to work two horns.

    Navara what to look for

Plea for advice & guidance......... I have a 3L terranao which suits me fine but is too small for my daughter & her brood + 2 dogs + bails of straw etc., so she's thinking of a Navara. After finally giving up on LR Discoverys (what a consistently unreliable, costly to run, gimmick-ridden...

    Phew....new MOT

Just got my new 12.5 months MOT! Sighs of relief all round LOL. Hadn’t used to bother me; must be a symptom of old age. Not bragging but (well...yes I am LOL) it's the first time for 3y that I’ve had no advisories at all, though previous ones have been silly or back-covering types eg. "waxoil...

Gold Plug Magnetic Sump Plugs now available

Have just bought a filter & mag. plug off ebay (from a reputable company LOL). However plug is much too small & should be 22 A/Hex with M16? thread (measures 16.5 dia.). Can anyone confirm actual thread size for an '04 3L? By the way, if you have a metal canister oil filter try attaching a...

New Brake Discs (stuck) Hub Nut?

As I have this job coming up soon I've found this thread very instructive. My only question (untill I actualy start it LOL) is why is a 'special Nissan tool' is required. When I did my Frontera (similar set-up) I made a tool to do-up the bearing nut. Here's hoping that tool can be adapted, but...

    Front propshaft

BTW...... I know most people (& Nissan!) state that grease should be used in propshaft UJ's but on prievious cars I've always used ep140 oil. This tip was passed to me by a garage owner, around 1970, when the first Hillman Imp I had ruined both UJ's inside 25K. Allright I was a mad driver LOL...

    Front propshaft

A bit off-subject but..... Is it worth the trouble of dismantling & lubricating the none-greasable prop. (f & R) slide joints? They're supposed to be coated with some sort of anti-friction stuff but surely a wipe-over with agreasy finger won't hurt.

reversing camera or sensor - what do you think?

I fitted sensors 3 years ago when I 1str bought my Terrano & have found them a godsend. Once faith in them has been obtained they are a 'fit&forget' & not subject to weather fouling, reflection problems, lighting conditions or thieving hands. If fitting a camera anyway, I would advise both...

    New rules of engagement

walshie is a man after my own heart..... After years of being 'used' by 'instant friends' who don't want to know for the rest of the year let alown offer any help, I now resort to 'have you got a tow rope?' first (even though I carry one for personal use & a trench spade & sand mats). The reply...

Adding 2 stroke oil to diesel

Having used 2SO in my 3L for over a year, & being sad enough to keep accurate fuel records, I can confirm that it runs quieter, cleaner, & gives around 10% more to the gallon. When I've forgotten to put it in on accasion, it lets me know soon enough! On average, solo has risen from 26 to 29 mpg...
