    tuning a terrano3.0sve

Use the oil that nissan says in the book, from memory this is 5w-30 CG4 and change it at least as often as the book says! As far as tuning the 3.0, setting the thing up properly is an absolute must and will yield improved drivability. After that a *GOOD* custom remap is the only way to go, not...

Agreed. You can still have a top spec elec window'd, air con'd 120bhp Hiace for 3/4 of tranny money.

The EPIC was certainly EPICally dire. We have converted at least a dozen of these back to the mechanical VE pump as found on the non-turbo'd 2.5 flavour.

I would say that clutch and DMF issues on the 2.4 are still current, certinaly not as bad as they once were, but thats because many people have retro fitted single mass flywheels!

Look at the Toyota Hiace d4d. Very very underated vans.

Err no, worse than you can ever imagine!!! VW T5 is a great van though..

Whether its in a mondeo, a transit or an s-max, the 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4's do have their fair share of problems. HP pumps, injectors, DMF's, cam chains it could be anything. I would go for as late model as you can, they do seem to have got better recently. If it has a complete service history, go...

Not as fired up as she used to be.

With direct injection common rail being the norm now, injection pressures are simply mind boggling (2200bar = 32,000psi !!) at full load for some systems. At cranking they will generate at least 400 bar (5800psi) and injector nozzle holes are smaller than a single water molecule in some cases...

Not as fired up as she used to be.

Glow plugs. Although perhaps all 4 are still working, they do loose their effectiveness as they age. Does it start better if given acouple of cycles of glow-age?

    transmission control module

Glad you got it sorted finally! You didnt mention the tests you had done to establish the fault was with the TCM but they were obviously correct!

    transmission control module

Symptoms were refusal to lock the convertor or what? I hope your TCM is indeed faulty, fingers crossed.

    two small niggles

On my 2001 2.7 with the Marelli digital clocks, there is both a front and rear fogs tell tail. Front is green, rear is orange, right hand side of the speedo.

    Fly by wire accelerator help

HP - high pressure pump. There are ~4 different pumps on these vans according to fuel system fitted, and whether you have the lift pump strapped to the back or not.

    Fly by wire accelerator help

Only just saw this post.... Have had afew of these, and the Renault flavour too. I'm sorry to say that 95% of the time, the HP pump is fecked causing the no-rev when cold as the ecu finds it cannot control rail pressure. Running on Bio will have helped its demise. To confirm you need someone...

    Timing advance valve

Bottom of the pump, two flat head or posi screws. Black rubber cover over connections.

    fuel pump[ again]

"cam" sensor is on the front of the timing case of the Zexel though, have you not left this inplace??

    Timing advance valve

Only just seen this post! Get a genuine bosch valve (assume you have a bosch pump?) Clean area VERY throughly and carefully unscrew. Spring and piston behind it. Make sure the piston isnt stuck in the bore. Either the coil is open circuit or the piston is stuck. Check coil with DVM. I would...

    MAF Replacement

The ecu takes MAF voltage and converts it to a airflow figure as i said. The OP basically asked what sort of voltage should he see from the MAF as his truck appeared under powered UNDER LOAD. An OFF LOAD measurment is only an indication that the MAF is capable of giving a sensible figure OFF...
