    engine oil

I've just come back from a little errand to europe and was at this speed [taken by passenger btw] for most of the trip back. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg184/timbo_1975/Image0505.jpg which is 85% of what a SWB running about 165hp will do. No low oil pressure symptoms... But I would...

    engine oil

I am using Ford's Formula E 5w/30 mineral in mine, no issues, but any CF/CG rated 10w-30 mineral / semi synthetic would be fine.

    Removing EGR valve

This is EXACTLY the symptoms of failed / ageing glow plugs.

What are the differences of 2.7TD and 2.7TDI

...usually playing up, or about to! No, that's abit unfair.. Lets say you need to be abit aware of the foibles of the TDI whereas the TD will just keep going ad infinitum...

What are the differences of 2.7TD and 2.7TDI

TDI has different injectors . TDI & TD turbo's are the same in terms of airflow and series, but the TDI has a different compressor housing without the bend. Alittle more boost pressure on the TDI. Gearbox the same.

    FT’s Patrol Project

Agree with Ray - use a small bottle gravity fed direct to pump input via some clear tube. If the battery /starter is weak you'll really struggle to get it started as they rely on fast cranking speed to prime. A can of WD40 into the intake to raise the rpms helps enormously.

    FT’s Patrol Project

With the plunger removed it should start. Are you sure you have a good supply of fuel to the pump? If they have been dry for a while they are a bugger to prime, but would have thought your pump should have remained full of diesel as you've not disconnected it ??? When you cycle the ignition...

    FT’s Patrol Project

The stop plunger should lift easily out of the pump to reveal a black rubber 'stopper' on the bottom of it. sounds like yours is stuck..

    FT’s Patrol Project

Looks like the zexel / VP37 to me ! Removing the plunger from the stop solonoid will at least prove the engine will run, if only at tickover if there is a further electronic problem....

    FT’s Patrol Project

Do you have a red NATS LED atop the dashboard ? Should flash slowly when armed. If when you are attempting to start it flashes quickly or is lit solid, then the immobiliser is definately not allowing it to start. Could you tell us what IP is fitted to this motor ? A pic would be great...

    88 degree thermostat

If you are enterprising with spanners and auto-electrics, the best mpg increase is ditching the Viscous driven fan for a pair of electric ones. Of course replace the thermostat first as if it is stuck open or lazy, a slow warm up, or fail to reach full temp at all will drink the juice. If you...

Induction Kit on a TD - any point ?

MAF wont be doing anything with a mechanical pump conversion... A naked K&N sucking warm air from under bonnet area will be no better than a stock filter with the stock snorkel in the airbox.

Considering making a switch to a T2 (or maybe 2)

"What to look for" topics have been covered ad-infinitum over and over and over and over on this site, use the search function and have a read. Buy the best condition with evidence of good maintanance truck, not necessarily the newest one that you can find, having carefully examined it for the...

    3 ltr Clutch mod.

Excellant News!!!! I found with mine that I had to re-drill the flywheel for different bolt holes of the 3.0 cover, but it would seem for some 2.7's this is NOT required. I've not got the 3.0l clutch to slip yet and pedal pressure is the same as the 2.7's.... It's a superb upgrade.

....DIESEL version. 2.4 petrol will have a electric HP pump.

There was never any separate lift pump on any Mav or Terrano.

Anti Freeze type & Mixture (1979 Mercedes 350SE)

I would suggest he or you seeks some specialist advice from someone as the SL shop or CheshireClassicBenz (to name two local to me ) as these motors are entirely alloy and using the wrong antifreeze type could well end up causing a dead motor and a huge bill...
