    My Terrano Thread.

There are two pairs of wires. One pair for the lamp in the switch and the other for the hazard function. One of the hazard pair is ground, the switch simply grounds the other wire to activate the hazards courtesy of the Time Control Unit.

    Intermittent fueling issue?

It is possible the ECU may not play nicely if the solenoid is disconnected, but it is an unknown at this time. If it where a VP 44 I'd definitely so no chance but the 2.7 IP is still fundamentaly a mechanical pump with limited ECU control. However with fuel going into the IP it should at least...

    Intermittent fueling issue?

Yes, you have the gist of it. have a trawl through the EC section of the manual, Page 376 or thereabouts shows the fuel cut solenoid test procedure.

    Intermittent fueling issue?

As far as I am aware there is no possibility of coding the VP37 IP to the ECU. (it's a dumb pump & contains no active components) The ECU does however control the fuel shut off on the IP, this can be defeated with a simple wiring mod. In fact you should check the coil resistance as per the...

    Smoke alarms?

Many optical smoke alarms also include a temperature sensing function too. The simpler types only have a set point threshold which I suppose could easily be reached in a caravan on a hot day. The more intelligent temperature sensing types look at the rate of rise of temperature rather than a...

    Poor Repairs

On the ZD30 the front stubs are listed as: 400147F001 & 400157F001 On the 2.7L the front stubs are listed as: 400147F001 & 400157F001 I suspect all he can find in a breakers is the NON ABS variant which was never fitted to the ZD30 model!

    Poor Repairs

Bulls**t, I am 99% sure there is no difference in any parts other than engine, transmission and diff ratios. If you want 100% certainty check here:http://nissan4u.com/parts/terrano2/er_r20/2003_6/

    Alarm

Yep, it the cheapest and quickest alarm disable I know of!

    Alarm

Apologies for my assumption. Anyhow N\S is near side, O\S is off side. Easiest way to remember, the near side is normally nearest to the kerb when driving. The vehicle effectively has no alarm now, as it will not set if all doors etc are not closed and as far as the alarm is concerned your...

    Alarm

Easiest way... under the bonnet on the O/S there is a rubber stopper that presses the bonnet switch, if you remove the rubber stopper the switch will not operate and the alarm will no longer set.

    Livid With A Local Garage

If the screws are missing, you will need a couple of M4 x ~8mm.

    I'm feeling torn!?

I am in the process of doing something very similar. I bought this, without the stripes and sign writing! Just plain white with black (brick proof) windows. Cost was pretty much 1/4 of of the earlier example shown on ebay. From here:http://www.forcevans.co.uk/used-vans/mercedes-benz 416 CDi Auto...

    Alternator pulley explosion...

A thought has occurred to me, if you remove the alternator from the vehicle you could take it to an auto electrical specialist, they ought to fit a new pulley for a modest cost? I chose not to remove the alternator from the Skoda as it appears to be a job more suited to a gynecologist!

    Alternator pulley explosion...

The tool that goes through the centre to the alternator shaft is a standard tool albeit with a long shaft. The "odd" one looks like this, I think I got mine from a local motor factor for around a fiver. So the circa. 8mm tool will pass through the centre of this and locate in the end of the...

    Alternator pulley explosion...

The pulley incorporates a sprag clutch that will freewheel on overrun. I have changed them on other vehicles without problems. You will need two spline tools though, one fits inside the centre collar and has a whole through the centre that allows a conventional long shaft spline tool...

    Intermittent fueling issue?

These IP's rely on maintaining an internal case pressure, this is used to hydraulically operate the fuel quantity adjustment. The case pressure is normally regulated by a ball bearing/spring arrangement prior to the fuel return pipe, if this part wears, has dirt in it or the spring is weak too...

    Strange Tax Bands

Its a LWB high roof. Kerb weight: 2450Kg Payload: 2150Kg towing Cap. 2000Kg max train weight: 6600Kg OA length: 6780mm So in theory a 2T trailer of around 11M length would be permissible, but that would also probably require an active trailer braking system too. however as its only for two...

    Strange Tax Bands

just looked at the V5: Taxation class: HGV Body type: Specially fitted van Revenue weight: 4600Kg gross Vehicle category:N1 No emmission figues quoted, other than it is LEV compliant. Nothing else of any obvious significance, other than its an ex Met police TSG vehicle.

    Strange Tax Bands

I recently purchased (for a camper conversion) a 416 CDi T1N Sprinter, this has a maximum vehicle weight of 4600 Kg and a maximum train weight of 6600Kg. A1 LGV VED cost is £165. Wonder if its possible to re-class Terrano as LGV? I have no idea what the CO emmision figures are but the 5 cyl...

    Motorcycle question

As a thought, if you can find a scrap CD/DVD player they often have the deck mechanism mounted on four oil damped rubber mounts, they look a bit like a blind rubber grommet, some have M3/M4 fixings either side. Here's a sample pic...
