    which one

I am in a similar position to the op I have a swb Terrano which spends most of it's life towing (only up to 16 foot tandem Ifor Williams & plant trailers). I have yet to do my homework on towing capacity of either but think a swb Patrol or swb Landcruiser would suit me better than any of the...

    Bolt Removal

Trick is turn the welder up get a nice weld & let it cool before trying to undo the nut. If you are doing it with an arc welder it will be a bit more of a challenge & I would weld a washer on instead of a nut as you are less likely to get flux inclusion in the weld.

Thinking about it I believe there are 3 different size uj's so you will need to measure before ordering.

    Edd China is back!

:clapThanks for posting that link. I think the first lesson I learnt from that was not starting with a rust bucket in the first place. I wonder if Edd fancies loads of welding on a Unimog

    Fixing a boat help

Not all alternators need an exciter to start them charging so you may be right but if it still has the warning light wired in & working you should be able to use that.

    Fixing a boat help

Hour clocks on tractors & plant operate off the wire on the alternator (usually marked ind ) which goes to the warning light on the dash. So only able to clock hours when engine is running.

    Wanted - Cheap MIG welder

From what I have read on mig welding forum Clarke are good diy level welders with reasonable duty cycle & able to be turned down to low voltage settings for thinner metal. I was told to steer clear of Sealey as they have ali wound transformers but that said I know someone with a sealey 180 & it...

    My Terrano Thread.

Yes I know what you mean but I don't think it was the best maintained trailer before that incident & shall we say the driver isn't any sharper than the brakes.

    My Terrano Thread.

I had some one bring me a small plant type trailer where the linings had detached themselves but this was down to heat as he had towed the trailer some distance with the handbrake on fully laden. The plastic grease caps had also melted and all the grease had come out of the bearings.

    General Grabber AT3 opinions please.

I have a set of these on my Terrano I was looking for a more aggressive tread pattern at the time as my truck is used off road a lot. My tyre supplier talked me into having these for various reasons & I have to say I am really pleased with them. Yes I have got stuck with them but both times I...

    Pressing rear wheel bearings

I can't take credit for it I stole the idea myself I just thought it might be relevant to any one on here that had access to a press.

    Pressing rear wheel bearings

Shown here in a 30 tonne press although I actually used a 10 tonne press at the time. It can then be used to press the new bearing back on just by turning it over. I was not able to just grind the old bearing off as the brake drum back plate which also acts as a bearing retainer would have been...
