Had the intercooler off today, ready for the mechanic to do a compression test, also took the rocker cover off to check and adjust the tappets. No comp test as he didn't show, but it's much quieter now - I can actually hear the turbo spinning up. Flushed the rocker cover with paraffin in case...

Clean everything, find the leak, replace the parts that are leaking (says the man who's been trying to find his oil leak for 3 months)

Going to get it comp tested asap, and try and clean out all the pipes and valves associated with the crankcase ventilation.

If I remove the oil filler cap and put my hand over it there is a fair bit of pressure coming out. Is this normal ?

Apparently tesco are doing 2x5 litres for a tenner, and poundland are also selling the stuff now. Don't know what their price is though :augie

My last lot came from Morrisons and worked out at 90p a litre. Just used the last drops of it to get the plastic trims blacker-looking. Works a treat on them and all the under-bonnet black bits. Looks like new under there now !

After mucking about with the various pipes and stuff yesterday, I degreased the whole engine today, then took it for a blast to see if I could trace the leak. No leak. Intermittent white smoke from the exhaust though, especially when going over bumps. Odd.
