The U-pol cans have better quality paint and a much better spray nozzle and it helps that I've done some proper spraying too. Still, any aerosol paint job isn't gonna last like a proper re-spray.
Your wings don't look too bad from the photos compared to some I've seen.
Wings are pretty rare so you might want to get them repaired if possible.
I'm very lucky in that my motor came from Cyprus and then I believe it spent some time abroad, not to mention it appears to have been rust proofed...
No thread, but keyed with fine Scotchbrite, lights etc removed, masked up and sprayed with U-Pol aerosols. It's really a temporary paint job till I can get some space in the spraybooth where I used to work and spray it properly.
Crikey, absolute bargain, engine is worth more than that. They gave it away.
Welcome to the club and especially to another TD42 owner. Superb engine with a fantastic reputation.
I've used something like one of these in the past. Much simpler and better in my opinon.

If you have access to a welder, you can weld a blob on the end of the broken stud, put a nut over the blob then weld the nut to it all. The heat helps free the broken stud too. It sometimes takes a few goes to get a good weld but it's a tried and tested method I've used for many years.
£200 is cheap for 4 tyres and the entire braking system. Wish I could get 4 tyres, discs, calipers, pads, drums, cylinders, shoes and hoses/pipes for that.
Does that include labour? :lol
Dinitrol or Tectyl. Dynax for inside sills etc
Waxoyl is poor, allowing rot behind.
Used engine oil can have acids in it.
Remember to do the insides of the chassis/box sections, as much rot comes from the inside as the out.
Almost anything cheap isn't good long term.
Simple way to check for worn layshaft bearings. Box will be noisy in 1st 2nd and 3rd when driving and go quiet/er in fourth because in fourth the drive is thru the mainshaft and not the layshaft as per 1st to 3rd.
If the y61 rear arms are the same as y60, I've read stronger uprated ones are a good idea if you intend any rock climbing.
If you do get a roofrack try to get a compromise between strength and light weight. I've driven a few motors with heavy roofracks and they are hard work.
Maybe some...
I read all these stories of people on here about their rusty Terranos and the repairs etc. My hat off to such a dedicated bunch. Reminds me of my Land Rovering days. I wished that they had used some decent rustproofing in the factory too.
Are you gonna weld it up ? Or do you have other plans...
Learning to drive is like many things, it takes regular practice. Your driving instructor probably only said that in the absence of you being able to have regular lessons. I doubt that your instructor would recommend that otherwise.
Maybe you should consider saving up a lump sum and setting...
I don't quite understand. How does your dad making you have fully comp insurance stop you doing your theory and practical ?
Why not just go to a driving school and get your licence ? With your experience you will prob only need a few lessons. Money well spent instead of buying tow bars etc. :D...
I see your point and I would have taken her off her feet, but I'm sure they were mindful of the cameras filming and whilst they would have been justified, it almost certainly affected their decision making, that and the fact that they would have had her possible injuries in mind.
There are...
You asked. In actual fact I was being quite diplomatic. It looks like garbage and not many people would want something looking like that bolted to their vehicle unless they were desperate.
I never said it doesn't work, but would you buy a ratty looking terrano that's been brush painted or a...
Seen the same thing. Did 8 years as a bobby. Had to take down a lad on drugs who was threatening to stab his g/f. Pre pepper spray and stab vest days and the situation meant we couldn't wait for backup. Two us nearly went over a balcony and down the stairs with him and he just shrugged off a...
Cos it looks nasty and it cud be out of balance with all that paint.
New universal ones are only 23 quid n ebay inc post, but then traders get cheaper post than private individuals.
How about a lower temp thermostat? I don't know what's available but commonly standard uk spec vehicles have 88 degree stats and you could maybe get an 82. Don't go too low though or it will take ages to warm up in winter.
Don't be tempted to run without a stat. In many system designs the...
