I've got a question regarding heater.

Although it does make some loud hiss sound (another issue), it works from both passenger/driver's side vents - I can get very warm air coming out. Then cool air comes out from the middle vents (I usually close these), for foot, even I set the dial to get warm air only from footer vents, I don't feel much warm air coming out. I was even feeling cold air coming in when I drove the other day as if it's coming through the engine compartment. I wish I could put some shield/insulation for driver's foot.

Is this normal with Terrano? or any work around?

I haven'r experienced that before :nenau

Have you experimented with all the different vent settings?

Middle vents sound to be normal but does sound odd. You definitely have warm air coming out of screen and side vents?

What sort of temp is the gauge showing?

My wifes truck had a really poor heater and temp gauge hardly climbed much above a quarter. Replaced thermostat and it was like a different heater.

Think you said that you had changed pollen filter a while back didn't you.

It's not stuck on recirculate is it?

Yes, I checked vent at foot specifying the dial to foot, but didn't feel much aor coming out.... Oh, one thing, what if I put the air filter in a opposite way (thought you're supposed to put it for a certain way)?

Dunno know about wrong way around. Suppose you could try without the filter but I personally wouldn't leave it like that for good but worth a try.

My foot vents throw out hot air just as hot as my dash vents (not middle) and are quiet powerful. So much so I clip my car air freshener over the front foot vent as the dash ones are too weak and like things out of the way. Do you get hotter air / more powerful flow out of the vents under the front seats into the rear when you select foot?

Yes, side vents are coming out without problem. Even if I set the dial to foot, it still blows. Ah, I haven't checked temp.....yes, I have checked the pollen filter about a month back.

I'm not sure, it's really as if the foot vent is blocked.....

Sounds great and I can't imagine when my Terrano does that (if it can ever). Nah, it doesn't really blow when I select the foot vents...

Check all the actuator / operating links.

Obviously you need to have hot water in the heater matrix for it to work together with a Matrix that is not blocked up in the lower half.

I can't talk about your specific vehicle but whenever I have had similar issues on vehicles in the past it has been the actual control systems at fault rather than a Matrix issue.

It's often difficult to see if the controls are working but you need to check them. Just because the lever slides into the feet position does not mean that the heater controls are responding and moving as they should.

I have had it where if it's cable operated then the cable has corroded inside causing either the outer cable to move in the clamp or actual solid wire cable just kinking instead of opening the flap. My Mums Micra was a pain doing this I ended up replacing the control cable.
Likewise with heaters operated with cams and levers sometimes these can stop working if debris collects in the air flow pipes. And most obviously but not easy to see if there is plastic pipework has it come off at the heater end ?

More modern vehicles often have electric controlled water valves rather than simple air mixing systems.

Worst part when I try to check these things is I start to feel dizzy when I am lying upside down trying to check everything works fighting the cabin spin aaaaah !
