Wow, I have just spent £160 and ordered all the bits to make my own snorkel... I hope I have got it all right, or the wife is going to kill me...

Still not sure how I am going to get the nerve up to drill that hole big through the wing though....

Wish me luck.

I'll do that once everything has arrived, and is fitted, just in case I got it wrong..:lol

That's the one thing that puts me off fitting a snorkel as my wings are still very good:rolleyes:

Same here... Mind you, when I fitted the Flettner, and had to cut a 110mm hole in the roof, that gave me palpitations every time I thought about it...

Don't think I will be rushing the fitting, need to get it right first time...:bow

Why wont that fit?

Because I have ABS, so can't come in behind the filter, and have duel battery, so can't come in, in front of the filter, so the only way for me, is straight into the back of the airbox. The hole on the Navara one, only allows for it to come in, in front of the Air box...

If I start mod'ing it, to move the hole, and rub off the name, I might as well build my own from scratch anyway, so that is what I am going to try and do.:thumbs

The £160, does include a new filter, and the means to fix it all in place to the MAF.

that one i posted goes the airbox from the wing side

Mine is the best solution for abs, even if I do say so myself ;)

3" so no restriction and straight into airbox

But look at the huge tube that sticks into the engine bay right where my battery is... not only that, but I still can't see how it connects to the airbox, as mine is longer than that, and goes right up to the inner wing, with only about 1/2 an inch gap, that has about 3 inches.

Awesome, looking forward to loads of pics and a write up :)

My snorkel cost me nothing technically apart from the fuel to fetch it.

There was one on eBay for £60 that I won and had arranged collection, during the week before my dad came round with an old air cooled Husqvarna 50 chainsaw that was a none runner, stripped it down and cleaned it out and oiled it up and it turned out that it was just mushed up wood shavings jamming up the handbrake which wasn't being released, managed to flog that for £60 :)

Went down to Bath to pick it up on the saturday and ended up parking up in the eve before setting back having a walk round and then havibg a bite to eat in a gorgeous little pub and had a drink too :)

Sorry to rub it in, I'm just in story mode at the moment lol

I have abs, room for second battery and have the snorkel from the link. I did 90° off the snorkel in rubber to a stainless steel 90° through inner wing to a enclosed air filter. All in 3"

I also like stinkas fit. I have made it a bit tight to fit a second battery in mine:doh

That was a result... I have not seen any down this way go for less than you can buy a new one for... It always makes me laugh just how caught up in a bidding war some people will get...

To Quote Zippy... Pics!!!!

The problem is the Aircon pipes limit the space on the engine side, so the battery is right up against the wing. It then gets to the stage that you are customising so many bits to get it to fit, that you may as well, just built it exactly how you want from the go... I also like the Silver and black look.
