hi looking to confirm features of tranny.

believe is part time 4wd, is it like a t2 then 4hi bringing in
front axle with either fixed or auto hubs. further 4 lo presume
via a neutral.

does the rear axle have an lsd or locker and how is it operated.

is transfer a proper lever, are there any other functions like
road going 4wd?

thanks

Rear locker, no lsd

Front is a proper axle (beam), auto or manual front hubs, the rest is the same as the T2, levers etc.

Yes the handbrake is on the propshaft not the rear wheels.

:)

cheers Alan, how is rear locker activated, didnt think of handbrake, nice one.

well ive been underneath and turned front prop by hand, at most it would turn 5/12ths
which i assume the auto hubs locking. by locking hubs it moved no more than 1/12th
which i guess again is slack in the front diff.

then jacked up each front wheel in turn then spun the wheel prop didnt move, this was
back in auto mode so they appear free as not transferring any motion up the transmission.

still got green 4x4 light on when in 2wd by lever, there appear to be 2 sets of plugs
fastened to the transfer box lowest at 3 o'clock is brown, then higher up a grey one.

No 4wd on tarmac or hard surfaces which is my main gripe on a car which is supposed to be Nissans answer to the Landcruiser ....and difflock is a small knob at the bottom of the centre console in front of the transfer lever :thumb2

yep i thought it might be fulltime or even super select like mitsi but still its like terrano
and essentially bullet proof.

presume rear difflock can be used 2wd with care. what about the stabiliser release, info
appreciated as no handbook...bidding on 1 at moment.

My stabiliser switch is just to left of steering column . Can be tough to see when driving due to position of steering wheel .
Think the handbook simply says only to be disengaged off road ?

Richard the stabilizer is released when offroad. It disengadges one side or the ARB on the near side for greater wheel articulation. So it takes the ARB out of the game.

Have you tried the difflock yet?

Do the difflock and ABS light both flash when you turn it on?

I found both pipes on mine snapped at the rubber hoses, end farthest from the axle, so it was a rejoin and I think I've connected them the right way:eek: as the locker goes on and off:naughty

getting back to a 4x4 light, take rubber covers of and see if it wet.

:)

Update please:nenau

well the diff lock and abs lights alternate when selected.

been underneath and front prop operates auto hubs, and
manual mode works too.

4wd light on still likely will pull plug, learnt to ignore it for
now.

can i see stabi release in action??

Switch Stab off and go under passengers side and pull ARB up and it will disengadge. You won't see anything when car is level, you need an axle twist to see it disengadged in use

Richard i've got some spare procomp shocks for the Patrol if your interested? ES3000's for front and ES1000's for rear, need boots for them, both are better than standard Nissan shocks.
Managed to get them out of the Explorer guy after he went bust taking my money after some kind words in his ear:augieknow what I mean:nenau

Anthony Ronald Brown

Jocky excuse my ignorance, but you keep refering to the 'ARB'. What exactly is that ?
The only 'ARB' Im aware of in 4x4 terms is the 'Anthony Ronald Brown' ARB as in ARB air locker and other Oz 4x4 accessories ?
Is this the one ?

ARB = Anti Roll Bar

ANTI ROLL BAR:thumb2
Of course
