:dohwindow stuck in down position, if i leave it for a while eg couple of hours it seems to work again has anyone any ideas on whats wrong, the switch on the drivers door has no effect on the movement of the passenger window

Most of these power windows have thermal protection devices fitted either on the motor or as a common thermal overload circuit breaker or both!
I would guess that the thermal o/l switch on the motor is either not working correctly or it is working correctly and the motor is getting way too hot too fast, maybe an indication of impending motor failure or as said just the thermal switch being a bit too keen.
