i know there is a common fault on leaking waterpumps but looking at this leak i have is a bit further back behind the pump and the pump ;ooks like a couple of years o;d (shiny in colour)
mate couple of doors down looked at it thinks its either back of the thermostat housing or the gasket which joins the engine behind the pump(not where the pump joins the engine)

does this make sense?

anyone got ideas?

Hi Tony, is the leak still in the centre or is it off to one side? I had a leak from the oil cooler on the drivers side of the engine block. If you look down the dipstick tube there is a bracket that fastens it to the side of the engine. The bolt was missing from the bracket on mine and this bolt also holds the oil cooler.

hi jim it is directly behind the water pump under the thermostat housing

Its easy to replace a thermostat and do the gasket wrong. Whip it off and have a look. But don't ask me what it SHOULD look like, I've forgotten!
