The more I look at the first pics, the more I'm adamant that it's the IP

Well ive got the i/c, battery n coolant bottle out the way to get a better look. I have found the potential source hopefully. The 3 retaining nuts that hold the pump
body to the gear housing? 1 nut missing completely and the other 2 i could turn with 1 finger. Looking in the manual theres is a gasket so getting these done up correctly might fix my problem. Fingers crossed. Any tips on accessing the lowest bolt? Whats the component that sits below the ip? This may have to be moved first unless theres a trick to getting at them

That could have become expensive very very quickly, I thought it was the pump :thumb2

The item below the IP is the vac pump for the brakes it will have to be removed to access the bottom nut, Rick

Managed to get the vacuum pump off today, to gain access to the lower bolt on the ip. Three bolts and a nut that came off fairly easily. Took the bango bolts out and I was able to wriggle it free.
Could air have been drawn in from the loose bolts? As I went out after reassembling and the engine felt alot smoother at low revs while cruising along.
I think ill try n clean the area up so its easier to spot if this hasnt solved the issue.

Surely it must have been having some affect on running. You must have elastic fingers mate, I'd have got peeved off with that fiddly job very quickly :lol

just got back from jollys.
i could have tould you it was the vac pump gaskit as when i put it all back i had a little drip very infrequnntly so decided to leave it.
as for the ip its fine its the one from rick, maybe i did not do them up really tight all the leak off pipes are new except blank one as was good.
there are no eml codes to read as its not had any on it since i changed the ip.
i am sure you will be long lived in terry like i was.

I think you've missed the point Panelbeater.

It seems that the bolts holding the pump to the housing were both able to be moved by finger and one was missing completely, he only removed the vac pump to get at the bottom bolt on the IP

Main thing is that shes running well. Nothing had gone wrong and it was only some time and getting dirty to put right. So no issues as far as im concerened. Wasnt my intention to imply that anyone was at fault. Always gonna be a few bits to put right on a 19 year old beast.
