seems I have a problem with my teeth:eek: I have had no problems with the gear box just thought I'd change the oil knowing that the box is a weak point on the terrano.
Although it drives fine better keep my eye's open for a gearbox, do I get this one repaired or go for a salvage gearbox.
Anyone know what box I have the car is a 02 3.0 SVE manual. Thanks in advance.ps hope the pic's work I've only done it once before, memory not like it used to be lol....

Fill it back up and drive for another 10,000 miles and bare this in mind. It may last in this condition for years. If it aint broke......................

It doesn't look like part of a gear tooth to me.

I wonder if it is part of the synchromesh system.

You could be right as it is tapered, strange I don't have any gear selection problems though & the box is so quiet and smooth!

Hope your right I'll keep my fingers crossed for now, if it goes' bang so be it!. I can change it myself it's just finding a good replacement!.

any saw dust come out? if no put some in and flog it, only joking

if theres no worrying noises other than in your head then enjoy
it as it is.

Well after stripping a t2 box down, my opinion is it looks like a tooth as some of the gears are tapered. syncro rings are copper

Yes it's a tooth of one of those main gears in your thread tapered and a twist "if that makes any sense" excellent pic's by the way thanks.

I had some bits on my drain plug, also what looked like a small roller bearing, that was a year ago still going, :clap
Someone suggested the monkey who did the last oil change dropped the plug on th bench/floor & never cleaned it:doh
Hope you have the same luck as me

Cheer's I'll keep my finger crossed.
I'll be towing my boat regularly this summer just hope the gearbox holds out!

Just don't drop the clutch with the rear wheels smoking at traffic lights:lol

So if sometimes you miss a gear or get the revs wrog when changing gear and you hear this horrible crunch from the gear box, I assume it is fast spinning gears trying to mesh with slow running gears.:doh:doh

So what takes the impact of this?

Is it the synchro, or the slow running gear?

How many times could a gear take this?:nenau

Best regards,

Rustic.
