Went to buy a few cans at Tesco tonight and T2 wouldn't start when I can out  sounded like flat battery :?:

Phoned the wife so I could try a jump start. No joy so I started to think here we go

Phoned RAC and waited 30mins and he checked Battery and tester said it was knackered  Put jump leads on and still no joy no change, did his checks and told me starter motor is trying to pull 600amps

Got tow home and will have to try and source starter motor tomorrow

One thing that's sprung to mind is Tubbs had problems with his starter motor going to Spain and guess what his car is the same colour as mine and I've not read of anyone on here having to change their starter motor on a T2 here and you get 2 the same colour in 2 months

Is it a colour thing or what

I ain't going to Nissan as they had Tubbs eyes out in Spain

I will also have to go to a different Motor Factor for the starter as the battery is still under warranty

I changed one a few weeks back on mine but its a petrol and I'd been doing a lot of wading, which is what killed it I suspect. Cost me £120, but I didn't really shop around (no time needed it there and ten) just got it from a place I know are usually reasonable.

Is there something wrong with the word KNACKERED

Worn out:cry:

If I wanted to call the starter motor WORN OUT THATS WHAT I'D HAVE PUT IN THE TITLE

I was being polite using the work knackered, know what I mean

t-jay I saw that, but I can't wait for it to be delivered and I hate getting the bus.

update, looks like I was supplied with the wrong starter motor

one I got had 2 spade terminals on the solenoid and the old one only has 1 terminal. Only discovered this after removing old motor.

Starter motors identical (Bosch) but solenoids different.

So I'll have to wait till monday

 were is my beer

can u not take solenoid of old one or do u reckon thats caput part

Thought about that but its an exchange unit and I don't think they would be to happy, also there is the warranty issue and using a part thats 9 years old.

will just wait till monday on the right one

If its drawing 600 amps i would recon on main windings KAPUT :!:

i was thinkin just to get u through weekend but gues nightmare to get at so not worth hastle

gego,

If it has 2 separate small spade terminals and one big live terminal for battery cable you should be able to use it still. One of the terminals should be for powering up the solenoid and the other that you do not need to use should be for starting the rotation of the starter before the main solenoid switch kicks in.
The starter may have several applications and you just don’t need to use one terminal.

I've taken it back so I'll wait till monday now.

cheers
