Well it needs to be a woodturner really. I've got an old mahogany victorian dining table that some tit sawed the casters off, leaving the fittings and the shaft of the caster embedded in the end of the leg, but of course the legs are about 3" too short now, so was after getting someone to turn four identical wooden feet, with a bit of a moulding to match the existing leg, and a shallow depression on top so I could just slip them under the legs and hey presto, back to normal height...

why not fix new feet to the legs
ie balls or square feet. its quite a common fix if you look in the antique shops

its much nicer fix otherwise your going to have to mess with the rails and leg fixings . then it normally gets messy or wobbly:bow

Well the trouble is the brass fitting and stuff that holds the end of the leg together is still there....to use them I'd need to use an Eazyout to get the studs out where the tit (no not me!) cut the caster wheels off them - cos they are jammed solid - and then find suitable new casters which will be expensive and possibly not tall enough....which is why four little wooden stands would be more flexible..

what fitting new casters? bit painful I'd say.

I'll have to find a woodturner up here in Llandovery...there were a couple at the local show last year.....
