sorry to hear bout ur problem but could it be fuel running back to tank over nite

Fooking crap start to the week :hmh:(:banghead

Got 5 mins down the road, went into petrol station to get me grub, came back out & guess what  WOULDN'T START :banghead

Called RAC back out

Turns up ( same bloke  )

This time it doesnt want to know :nenau

After a short while fiddling & testing :augie the starter is now fooked / burnt out & have no power to the pump :nenau

So it has been recovered

So gotta get a starter asap & then sort out the no power problem

shit that is a bad start sorry cant help unless u have an alarm thats playing up after that i have no idea.

bloody hell.

is it as simple as wiring? a crack in the positive cable? bad clamp? hope its nothing too serious!

From what I heard yesterday there was plenty of battery power spinning things up:D
The fuel running back could be an idea :augie
Anybody able to expand on this?

a leak in the fuel line will do that !

but have you tested the glow plugs on the car or off a battery. could be the relay.

mine was a crap starter in the mornings, but when it finally gave up permanently i cleaned all electrical connectors and discovered the alternator was shot still charging but not well. rick gave me tips on fixing alternator and everything is awesome. everything runs much better. even the wipers either the new alternator but suspect its the clean connections.

but you both run on veg oil so your pipes will be stodgy and soft. id be looking there first.
cant see the fuel will run back id expect the pump to still have enough to start it , even if it cut out soon after, that would describe fuel problem to me

i get the cold weather effect mine every year

ADZ fix that alternator :D
Meanwhile I'll recheck my glow plug solenoid 'cause I did have issues with that earlier on this year:thumbs
Fuel pipes will be checked too;)

sort it out mister cos getting woken up at 5am and coming out to help you isnt good! tho feel free to wake me 4 any other reason!!!

Well the fuelling side of things is fine :thumbs
The glow plugs are new & double checked there working :thumbs
Injector nozzles are new :thumbs
Battery's fine :thumbs
Me boss checked the above whilst i was working :bow :D
SO
Tomorrow off work the plan is :augie
Get the starter & alternator refurbished at a place i found today & he said if he cant rebuild mine hell soon match something up
That just leaves the electric problem to the pump BUT the reconed starter & alternator may sort that :nenau
If not then i'll have to check the solenoid & relays :doh

Well if it does turn out to be the injection pump I will have a spare one as soon as the engine is fitted and up and running

hi,are compressions all good,i had a toyota deisel with similar symptoms,a real bastard to start on cold mornings, went well for the rest of the day once warmed up tho, turned out to be to low in compression .cheers

for any other reason :doh, no wonder he's late for work. :lol:naughty

Well here's what's been done prior to problem
  1. Glow plugs
  2. Injector nozzels
  3. Fuel filter
  4. Mini filter

Here's what's been done today
Reconditioned the alternator ( cleaned & replaced brush's )
Reconditioned the starter motor after burning it out  :doh

Still won't start :banghead

So called in me mechanic mate :augie

Looks like it's the solinoid on the fuel pump or the hole thing  :banghead

There is power to the pump but no fuel coming from the injector's so it's either a sticky soinoid Or something in the pump failing or it's fooked :(

So if he doesn't get time to do it for me by Saturday :nenau then that is what i'll be doing instaed of spending the weekend with me kids :( :banghead

Have you checked your positive battery cable is not cracked where it enters the battery terminal. Also it could be your ignition switch that is the problem.

wasnt there a thread somewhere about the switch at the end of the ignition causing problems ? :nenau

Battery cables ok but if the ignition is playing up, how would the pump get power  sorry if thats a dense question but this side of things are new to me
I'm used to petrol electric pumps where they work or don't work :lol

If you don’t have an immobilizer then the solenoid on the pump will be powered (to let fuel through) when the ignition is turned on.
