Wish I'd left the clutch damper pipe alone

Hi peeps, going back a few weeks ago I was having problems with my clutch slipping so as recommend I removed the damper pipe which runs to the back of vehicle and blanked the hole of in the metal block on the clutch flexy pipe. this made no difference to the clutch slipping :doh as it only seems to slip when it wants too and also it's always had a high biteing point but other than that it works fine. My problem now is that the clutch bearing is very noisy especially when the revs are up and you push the clutch in to change gear but is fine on tick over and was told that there was most probably air in the damping pipe before it's removal so now the bearing is working 100 % where as before it wasn't so any body know if I can put a bit of air back into the system as I can't refit the dampening pipe as I took it all off and binned it. If I can get less pressure on the bearing it may stop the noise :nenau. Thankyou again.

the damper pipe has nothing todo with pressure on the clutch bearing. if it was still connected and had air in the clutch wouldnt work properly anyways. i think you just have a noisy bearing they all seem to be like it have a go at checking the master cylinder output shaft attached to your clutch fork sometimes the locking nuts works loose and overtime it self adjusts causing all sorts of problems

Sounds to me, like your pedal is not returning to the top... I have tried all sorts with my pedal, but it only returns to the very top, once in a blue moon. so I have got into the habit of lifting it back up with my toe.

One time, on an unfamiliar country road in Wales, I had just started to pull away, and a car came round the bend too fast. I did an emergency stop, but as I had been driving the Automatic all the week before, I was not as quick on the clutch as I should have been, and I noticed that instead of the car stalling, the clutch slipped. I lifted the clutch with my toe, and the engine stalled...

Yeah I had a look at that but the noise started as soon as I removed that pipe ?? And the clutch was working fine apart from sliping now and again :thumbs

Anyone know if I can put a bit of air into the system to reduce the pressure on the clutch bearing :nenau

I guess the easiest way would be to open the bleed nipple as the peddle is lifted.

But I don't think air is the answer. Have you checked the actual peddle adjustment under the dash?
