Does anyone know if my 2002 T2 has a wiper relay and if so where is it? I believe early models had one on the rear of the fusebox but cant see one in the wiring diagram :confused::confused: Have a wiper issue and replaced the motor to no avail.... alls left is the switch (bet it is £££'s from Nissan!!) or possibly a relay which will be a lot cheaper :nenau:nenau

Any help greatfully received

Think its one on bottom of 'a' post passengers footwell by the bonnet release

My 97 maverick, its just below the motor its self on bulk head, grey in colour.:nenau

Mine is in engine bay at the passengerside. Mounted on the Bulkhead up against the inner wing.

Just been onto Nissan who tell me they dont stock a relay for that year so guess it has not got one.... a new wiper switch is £111 +vat :eek::eek: and that might or might not fix it... they suggest I book it in for a 'diagnostic check' for £44 and that should tell me the problem :(:(

However I was advised to check ALL the wiring as apparently Nissans are renown for bad wiring !!! Guess it is back to the drawing board on this one, however the wipers have been on the fritz for weeks now so a couple more wont hurt!!! Out with the multi meter this weekend :doh:doh:doh

Of course it's got a relay. Renown for poor wiring? who are they trying to fleece. Find another dealer!!!!

what exactly is the problem?

problem is...... If I use either the wash/wipe, slow or fast speed wipe then the wipers do not switch off again even after you push the column switch to the off position, AND if I use the 'flick' setting the wipers just stop wherever you let go of the switch :confused::confused: I have tried another second hand motor (working on the theory that 2 wont have the same issues?) but it too does the same..... You have to turn the wagon off, back on and use the flick to reset the wipers to the bottom of the screen !!

Guys..... Still need help!! Tried cleaning the contacts on the plug to the wiper motor (no luck)..... SO.... before I have to pay £111 plus vat to mr Nissan for a new column switch does anyone know where (and if on a 2002 mk4 T2) the wiper relay is???? I am desperate and know earlier models had one but the guy at Nissan says 'computer says no' to a new one for my truck :confused::confused:

A relay has got to be a cheaper option to try first?? I have found some 2nd hand ones on line but they are all for pre 2000 mav's and terranos !!!!

HELP :doh:doh:doh

The wiper circuit has got to have a relay surely....is it possible to trace the wiring from the wiper motor itself back to where ever it leads in engine bay....there seems to be various layouts for these trucks...it can be a mystery tour....my relay is in a box inside engine bay on driver's side inner wing.

Don't be tempted to pay Nissan their ridiculous price for the column switch..even if its the switch that's at fault you will be able to source a second hand one somewhere...

Someone who has the same truck as you will be along shortly to tell you exactly where the relay is located....it has to be somewhere and accessible to boot

My wife's little Micra K12 had exactly the symptoms you have and it was the relay I can assure you.

Hmmmm had a wee look here for you

http://bebrs.pie-dabas.net/Webs/Terrano/R20/el.pdf

It would appear that some later vehicles have a washer 'amp' rather than a relay to control intermittent wiper functions....don't know if the wiring diagrams will be of any help to you in sussing out the problem...but maybe worth a look

Hey ronypony.... I completely missed the 'amp' bit :doh:doh:doh I have been looking at the digram for days trying to fathom out the issue and completely missed it !!!! Bit of a bugger as it looks like it may be the switch after all :(:(:( so will be searching on line for a 2nd hand one (it is a small stubby looking thing) and I have not seem any for sale on e bay etc as they all look too long??? I will have to try on line breakers...... Someone suggested I take the positive off the battery for half hour to 'reset' the ECU in case it is somehow 'upset' ??? Guess it is a free option I can try :nenau:nenau

cheers I feel like I have a bit more of a direction now... this has been ongoing for weeks and is getting beyond a joke

I had a problem finding the indicator relays, guess what? they don't hae them all controled by some 'timer bock module/ thingymajig so maybe this is the same?

Plank... think you are correct. I did ask at the Nissan spares dept and they said on 2002 (02 reg) T2's there is no relay so think it is the techy thingamujig all in the wiper switch (hence the £111 + vat) :doh:doh:doh...

I will try to source one in the web 2nd hand and if not will have to give mucho casho to Mr Nissan :(:(

Tempted to try the power reset tho?? Anyone know how long I should leave it powered down?? 30 mins or so I would guess... might try it in a while as I am at work in the truck today :):):)

I lurve my truck even if it does seem to have endless little 'issues' :D

my isue turned out to be an aftemarket 'auidiable towing relay' that had melted. I have never tred the power down thing, but it has to be worth a try as it's free. Make sure you know your radio code first though :thumb2

radio code????? Where will I find that??? I have had a flat battery and also changed the battery but that only took 5 minutes (and I think left it disconnected for a day when I changed the water pump???) but never had to put one in after reconnection?? Possible mine has not got one???

Best I check the books that came with the truck first !!!

i got a code for a ford radio from a man on ebay for 1p! so it might be worth trying on there as well. But i'm sure someone who knows what they are talking about will be along soon :thumb2

Tried the power reset....nope :nenau:nenau:nenau

back to the drawing board :(

just don't go out in the rain mate :thumbs it'll be fine, trust me :augie

tried that but wrong time of year :doh:doh.... can manage with the 'flick wipe' as that is sorta working :lol:lol:lol just have to keep the speed down or its all a bit hairy !!! Still helps with the mpg ATM now derv is so expensive :naughty:naughty
