Thanks I will look at the brake switch and then if there is no improvement head off to my nearest or cheapest diagnostic centre

I have looked at both switches on the brake pedal both appear ok.

I was going to check the ECU for fault codes but what I assume is the data link connector appears different to that on the service sheet. This one is fixed to a plate on the bottom of the fuse box and there are 16 slots not all of which have terminals in them. I am sure I have read somewhere that this is later type.

Can it be read like the other type and if so what terminals need bridging.

If you have the OBDII connector, it is still bottom left, and bottom right to bridge.

However, if your MIL is not coming on at all during running, then I doubt you will find any stored codes, but we wait to be enlightened!

Thanks again
I look forward to my enlightenment which in turn may be passed to all who may be interested. Whilst the MIL aint on at the moment it was for about 20 mins when the saga began but went back to operating correctly following a switch off and switch on.

Cheers Centurion

In which case you WILL have at least one code stored.

Best to note down the ones you have, delete them all, run the truck for acouple of days, then recheck to see which have returned.

Update it would have been sooner but ive got the Northumberland flu bug thing. Anyway I set out to read the fault codes absolutly nowt. So I created one by pulling off the coolant temp reader terminal. This got the MIL light on so I attempted to read the code still nowt.

I then reset the MIL to go out after engine start which it did. Start up and ran and it suffered a reduce to idle running bout within about 10 mins/half a mile. On restart it ran ok. I still had the original MAF it had taken off so I swopped it for the new ? recon one I had fitted and the last twice out it has started and run fine no slowing or not revving.

I hope its cured even if only temporarily whilst I decide whether to trade it. Diesel at my 2 nearest garages is £1.45 and £1.48 a litre.

Thanks for all the advice etc Centurion

just an update centurion, as requested, my similar problem started durring the last cold snap, eventualy traced to a faulty Boshi fuel filter, the bonded top seal fell off when i removed fuel filter, it looked shirveled so doesnt like diesel and cold?
new one fitted, car is great again, 400 mile round trip yesterday to pickup my new wind turbine and 1.7T of batteries, no issues, result.
hope yours is as simple in the end.

fuel here is about £1.40, where will it end?
red we use, not that long ago was 11p a ltr, now more like 80p!!

T20 Bad behavior !!!

Hi Centurion

Have read through this thread and it all sounds very much like "wot I had" about 6 months ago.

Eventual remedy was a new Crank Position Sensor. :augie ££££££.

Hope yours turns out to be less expensive.

New sensor cured all ills. Fault was picked up by checking MIL light flashes (4-7).

Good luck !

PS Hope you join the gang properly----well worth the tenner
