So my wipers have packed in. I took them off to check the motor and the threaded rods they attach to turn fine. Managed to break my wiper arm putting it back on so had to order one on e bay!
Once the amrs and blades are back on the stop working although I can hear the motor going, so I put the arms in te up position, as if your cleaning your windscreen you know and the one remaining arm rotates fine when its perpendicular to the windscreen. Is it the blades causing to much friction or something?

sounds like the motor gears are worn, will turn off load but not on load, with an arm on the shaft is there much slack? there should be very little, if there is lots then the bushes and rods have worn, access through two cover plates below the windscreen, Rick

Well the arm doesn't shift on the shaft at all no, so motor gears? A new windscreen wiper motor then?

Sounds like it, If you cannot find a motor locally (breakers etc) then I think I may have one but will need to look for it as I am in a bit of a mess here at the mo, Rick

Ok, so replacing the wiper motor. I take it its the unit on the pasenger side of the upper bulkhead. Is it a simple un bolt and re bolt the new one job?

Yes but no

It's a unbolt and replace job but it you have big sausage fingeredhands it can be quite tight
