window wipers ?

hello i have tried searching for previous posts but couldnt find any with same problem so if anyone can shed some light i would be very greatfull ,
the long bar which attaches the drivers wiper behind the bulkhead top to the other passenger wiper is giving me problems you see when i got the car i noticed the bar which is visible through the plastic cover through thosae little squares well this was held up by a piece of elasticated string since it snapped and i lost power to the drivers side as i understand that the drivers wiper is driven by the passenger via this bar or arm well i stripped it down and as what i could get at it seemed i pushed the back of the arm onto the passen sidewiper which is like a ball joint for obvious reasons but there does not seem to be anything to hold it on there once it starts to move ,so i am back to tyingit to the plastic cover to keep it on ,

my question is .... what is missing or is it simply that the end of the arm is worn and will not stay on the ball back of wiper mechanism i have tried pushing it on and it seems to as if it should push on and then lock but no joy ,
is it a case of worn or something missing because in the manual it doesnt go into minor detail like that any help or pointers i would be greatfull as i dread driving in the rain with just a passenger wiper you dont get far many thanks :clap

on the end of the arm is a molded on plastic ball socket, looks like yours has broke, you need a new/used arm I have one but it is too worn, Rick

ihave aproblem with my wipers ,and have got a complete arm assy[terrano2.7] from a scrappy . and looking at it i can see no clips it just push,s into the plastic cup. hope this helps you:

yes that is correct, they just pop on, but as they wear the plastic disintegrates and falls off the end of the arm, Rick

wouldn't you be able to replace the ball joint with some of that metal putty stuff?

its moving constantly the joint so it cant remain in one position its a ball

No chance, the amount of strain at that point is very high, you are looking at a lever barely 2 inches long, pushing a long blade on an 18 inch? arm, Rick
