Just been doing my side back windows. Took several go's and quite a bit of wastage.....learn as you fit type of thing :thumb2

Things I've learnt?

  1. Use LOADS of water/soap.
  2. I cant get mine indoors to work on so if there's the very slightest breeze, dont bother, you'll get dust you never saw coming. If its bright sunlight again, take a break. I was doing one of them and the sun started blazing down, incredible how quickly the water dries.
  3. Be very careful with the heat. I read on some instructions that a hair drier isnt hot enough so use a heat gun on its lowest. Absolute bollocks.............I managed to shrivel one pece diving in with hair drier on full blast its plenty hot enough to shrink any ridges that appear on the side windows when your smoothing out.
  4. Be gentle with the squeegee, I managed to tear in two places being a bit rough.

Overall though good fun :thumb2

umm im sure the tint should be fiited to the insde and the protective clear film should have been takken off before fitrting(sticky side to window)

i'm lost here, i have tinted my side windows but the back went badly wrong, just could not get the bubbles out. Anyway i was using the outside to get the shape, then cleaning the inside of the window and then using tons of soapy water to geet it wet. i peeled off the backing and stick the film to the inside of the window (sticky side to the window) is this right or have i lost the plot completly.

Another obscure but possibly relevant point re window tinting, some insurance companies dont like it when its not standard :( cant understand it myself but whilst getting quotes most werent bothered so long as the front windows were left alone but a couple wanted to load for it.

Some ask very silly questions, had a conversation with one quote line , confirmed we were covered to tow then litened to the list of mods that they wanted to know about .......including the golden question "do you have a tow bar fitted" :doh

Another wanted stuff declaring right down to spotlights fitted and reverse sensors fitted. All under the umbrella of a non standard vehicle.

I'm sure loading for a lot of mods is just a money collecting technique but it is a point to bear in mind to avoid finding you aint got cover..............after the bump:nenau
