Thanks dude, I appreciate it.

I am very keen to play with the winch, I must find someone local that can give me a trial. Once I can safely operate it, it just learning better techniques :D

Just spotted this thread.....there is another one running in tandem about winches, they both come to the same route.......a serious piece of kit that is potentially very dangerous in untrained hands......these things have incredible stresses placed on them and their anchor points and vehicles at full load, subsequently if they go bang.......and they do......they cause severe injuries. HSE and Forestry/Agri safety boards have issued advisory leaflets and case histories. Think of them as the Highway Code.......if you don`t follow the `guidelines`.....watch out

Any suggestions as to where I can get a demo of using it? Or atleast get some hands on experience (local) :nenau

I will have to investigate the cable tomorrow, it seems (from watching videos) that I am in need of a hook for the anchor end. Unless there is a preferred method?

We do use these in the Fire service, ours have the cable in a drum, attached to the winch, they can be dangerous.

From looking at my pictures is there anything i am missing to winch myself?

All the videos I have seen, seem to have a hook of some kind :nenau
