Hi all im pretty new round here, i got myself a winch in the summer and after alot of scratching around got enough 6mm sheet together to make the mount,
I have used the mounts either side of the radiator to mount my winch, (4 x 10mm bolts)
any body have any thoughts on this? seems very strong and is attached to the towing eyes so should be strong.
just looking for re-assurance really! haha.

ok ill make the effort to take some pics tomorrow as everything i post, i get replies, 1 worded, just saying PICS!! lol!!
But i gotta say..... it is looking A-mazing!

Definitely need picys before i give response but it should be fixed to the chassis as it sounds like your fixing it to the slam panel

Either side of the rad, I have removed the bumper support, and used them fixings, its 6mm plate fixed with 4x 10mm bolts, Ill take pics tomorrow to be sure.

well post then, ill have to find some thing else to say

if using m10 bolts use 10.9 or 12.9 bolts , 8.8 are soft as shite, and if they ain't got grade on them don't use them.

I have bolted the bumper support to the outside of winch mount, (winch mount is sandwiched between bumper support and chassis plate that bumper mount was bolted to)

be care full with stainless it may not rust but is weak as sh?t, also you must not use the same grade bolts as nuts, as they pick up and weld themselves together unless you use a special lubricant, I used to fit hundreds of solar systems and we used nothing but stainless (I think they were A4 but not sure) and we had terrible problems after nipping the bolts up to hold it on the roof, and then trying to slacken them again for adjustments, more often than not they sheared, some years later I met a metalurigist (you know what I mean) his job was to be flown out to big ships and oil rigs to establish why a component failed, when I saw all the examples of his work around his home I mentioned about the SS bolts to him and the above are some of his comments, Rick
