OK. I took my missus to a wife swapping party once.

I came home with a lawnmower and a socket set.

in my opinion if the guy in the espace is daft enough to take it on the sand, and get stuck, thats his problem, i would'nt help him either, but i would help anyone due to an accident or something beyond their control ie ( snow, flooding etc) to recover their vehicle for as long as it takes.

Trouble is, although I think there are warning notices, the tide has a mind of its own down there - remember its just close to the Severn Estuary which has the second biggest tidal range in the world. There are also a couple of beaches down there where spring tides can be way outside the usual limits as well and catch people out. Perils of beach parking I guess!

He got caught out an freely admitted his cock up. Where he is and 200metres more towards the sea is a pay and display car park. He left it parked too long and got caught out, happens all the time there and theres no tide tables or warning on the signs that cheerfully tell you its £6 a day !

Apparently that beach has one of the fastest rising tides in the country so whilst he knew it would be full in by 9pm he didnt realise that it was all but a few inches off full an hour earlier whereas down the road where he'd walked to they were still parked on the beach :naughty

Its £1.40 after 4pm, £4 half a day and £6 full day. They dont check very often on Uphill beach so I think people take a chance and dont pay then walk the mile into Weston along the beach where the parking is heavily enforced.

I suspect thats the most expensive £6 he's ever saved

I have always helped out a stranded motorist,with all my cars, just shows what a soft puff the LR owner is, his winch is just for show.........I have even pulled out 6" pipe at work to line up for welding

Sorry to add to this thread too late on...
But whats the bloomin point in having all the gear and not using it? Am i the only one that gets a real buzz out of chugging around in your 4x4 helping people out during bad conditions?

During the recent snow (unfortunatly my Y61 was off the road but i had a Shogun Pajero Sport 2.5tdi for that period) we got hit really badly in High Wycombe/Buckinghamshire. I live in the Wycombe vally so to get anywhere you have to do up a pretty steep hill. Everybody was all over the place and only the 4x4 contingent were able to get anywhere.

I left the house to pickup the wife to be from work just as the snow came down. It hit hard during rush hour, nobody was prepaired and by 7pm it was 2ft thick and the area looked like something out of 28 days later with cars abandoned everywhere. I did a 5 hour round trip down lanes and across unused tracks to get one of her work mates home to Booker. Twas a bit of a pain, but a lot of fun too (moving trees, pulling people out etc)

What's the point in having a capable offroad vehicle if your not going to use it?

Its a crazy world... though to ba fair... if dude in the 4x4 (doesn't matter the marque!) didn't help and gets disapproval then surely every able bodied person present who could swim should also get slated for not wading in and giving a push :augie

The dude in the 4x4 doesn't have to do anything.. nor it appears did he. Sadly there are those who would sue him for ripping off a tie down point...

Or worse the 4x4 owner could have lost his vehicle trying to help....
