Yes, i got explorer map and have been searching councils web site and although they have lots of info they don't seem to give maps?

As for council maps, some are starting to put them on line others are slower off the mark.

Ultimately though if you are really interested you can book an appointment to view the definitive map. Take your own maps along and transfere as much detail as you thin relevant. I've done it for North Yorkshire and it was a very interesting morning out.


Oh - and if you have OS Explorer or Landranger maps then you should have all the byways marked on them anyway.

very true, but not if they are open or closed..

always worth a call a few days before you want to go
 
I was also told by my lovely council that the OS map is often wrong!:eek:
So even the latest edition can lead you to trouble.
If you've got a spare DAY then go the council and view their "Definative"(not) map.You'll be amazed how er pants the whole system is:doh
