hi guys wonder if u can shine some light
when im driving in normal conditions i have no noise but soon as i hook my caravan up i have a creaking grinding sound coming from rear axle area
also i noticed when doing a tight full lock i also get same noise from rear axle any ideas greatly taken :nenau

My 3.0 does the same when it has my balloon trailer on also comes up with the odd knock noise which sounds as though its from the brake drum.

Haven't taken any off it apart as yet to look though

When was the LSD oil last changed, I think it is recommended ever 40k Rick

Just wondering - are you absolutely sure you have oil in your back axle? this could be the diff planet gears ceasing up.

If your caravan has an ALKO anti-snake device with the semi-spherical friction pads in the ball hitch, they can make a hell of a groaning noise in certain conditions, particularly slow-speed. Have a look if possible at their concave surfaces and if they have a shiny glazed surface, scrub it all off with some 100 or less emery paper.
And, dare I say it... make sure your ball is scrupulously clean!!:naughty

I also had a noise like that, horrible groaning and whining, terrible it was. Then my mother in law got out and it was as quiet as could be.! :augie ;)

I change the diff fluid every 5000 miles but it still creaks at low speed with the trailer on.

Ah well it will break one day :lol
