i had 4 new tyres on a caravan all the same make and model, 3 were reinforced but the fittter put on one car tyre! it failed after aprox 30 miles when dragging the caravan around a sharp bend, the side wall went bang!

last week i bought tyres for a horse box same again they tried to fit three 8 ply tyres and one 6 ply!

Hi Plank

How do we identify a tyre's load rating?

I recall that when I bought a spare for my caravan I took one of the originals as an example of what I wanted. The tyre man saw a 'C' on it which he said denoted 'Commercial' and supplied an appropriate (more expensive) matching tyre & wheel. I assume the 'C' relates to load rating?

Re a tyre's 'sell by date', what should we look for?
