wasnt it the 3ltr trooper and its injectors (made by cat?) that killed of trooper over here

Not really, just that Isuzu didn't sell enough in the UK for it to be economic for Isuzu UK to continue importing them. Worldwide, though, the injector problem probably did kill the Trooper. The injectors were designed by Caterpiller who eventually admitted liability. As you may know, there was a recall for all Troopers with the crap design. Getting a new turbo and injectors just after the Trooper had cleared 100,000 miles was quite nice.

The last Trooper to be manufactured rolled off the production line in June 2003 - but the last to be imported into the UK were built in 2002. You see lots of Troopers with registration plates later than 2002 - but they were stored in a field somewhere in Ireland, some for as long as 3 years (I wonder how many owners of late Troopers actually know that).

I must admit to being no fan of crew cab trucks, i find them a poor compromise, not much of a car - and not much of a truck. And the turning circle is appalling. We have tried them all, overall i have found the L200 the worst and the Ford Ranger / Mazda the best - but I'm no big fan of them either (despite owning two) I always seem to keep coming back to the great all rounder the T2 :thumb2

Got mine to tow my Skyline & Scooby to track days & use as a work horse...

Knew nothing about them apart from they had a taxi engine & nothing about off roading

Went to Wales for the weekend, came back & sold the trailer, Skyline & Scooby & haven't looked back since :D

Awesome motor :bow

its funny how if you a review say parkers they say dated design but i reckon still look great. british design i believe at cranfield proven chassis from d21 truck, cracking engine.

love the glass line the almost mpv windscreen, the trolls is almost landrover letter box by comparrison. the way the glass height reducedsalong the side. the droop bonnet almost aeodynamic, very fluid gor an suv i think the smart front should be seen not hidden behind a bull bar.

i do like the spare on the back door a purposeful family wagon and a lot of car for what is probably a jacked up mondeo or primara, every home should have one.

the current defencless is barley different to one 30yrs old lol
