I have been having problems with sever pain in my hands, affecting mainly my wrists and thumbs, but the other fingers as well. I can't move my thumbs with out them clicking, and my wrists are red hot and grating. The worst part is I keep dropping things, and at the moment can't very easily, and with out pain run a nut up a bolt using my fingers. By the end of the day, they urt so much, I can't get to sleep, even taking pain killers before I go to bed.
I went to the doctors, the first time since 2007, and she packed me off for Blood tests and Xrays.. Now I am neadlephobic, but was very brave and had 10 pints of blood taken out of my arm without passing out..
Next off was the Xrays... The lady doing them took the first 4, developed them, and then said, "wow, what did you do to your wrist" (Nothing)... followed by, "I take it you are left handed" (I'm not). She then took another 8 xrays. She was lovely, showing me how the Xray machine worked, how the digital film was developed, and showing me my xrays and what was what... She took time to "unofficially" explain what all the bright white bits were, but said that "we had never had this conversation as they need to be looked at by the expert"
So today, back to the doctors for results, as my hands are no better... Apparently the results are fine, showing no signs of arthritis, or any other problems.. Now I was a bit surprised by this, especially after what the lady taking the xrays had said, and explained this to the doctor, to be told that a radiographer is not the same as a radiologist, and it's the radiologists prognosis that matters. Fair enough.
Anyway, long story shortened, they do not know what is wrong with my hands, and are now going to send me off to see a physiotherapist.
Anyway, while all this has been going on, I have been waking up in the morning, taking 2 pain killers, and then working through the pain, finding that by about lunch time I can do most things, and the pain is bearable. I have been doing a fair bit of work on Suz's car, but my car is also throwing it's toy out of the pram.
Today I went out, and thought the rear exhaust looked wrong, only to discover it had snapped off at the join above the rear axle. I rang the motor factor and ordered a new section, and gasket, which would be in the store by 14:30. I set to work removing the remainder of the flange so I could fit the new bit. The bolts were rusted solid, and would not undo, even with the pneumatic impact gun, and in the end the nuts rounded off completely. I ended up laying under the car using the Dremil to cut the nuts off, and finally managed to get it all free. Popped round to the motor factor, to discover that the deliver had been mislaid, as Dartford was in gridlock owing to a Police led incident, and would now probably not be delivered until tomorrow..
So now, I have to get back under the car again tomorrow... Worst bit, all that using power tools has aggravated my hands, and they are so sore now...
Oh, and the Doctor took my blood pressure, told me it was high, and I need to loose weight....
So basically, I am feeling a bit sorry for myself...
