Well the title says it all! I find my T2's seats to be very uncomfortable when driving for any length of time. I like my seat upright as i have a dodgy back yet my seat feels as if it needs an extra notch to get it totally upright. And the other thing is the head rest is not adjustable fore/aft so on a long trip i get a lot of shoulder tension.

Any of you had the same problem and did you do any mods to make it more bearable to drive on a long trip??? Does any other head rests fit into the T2's seat to make it a little comfier?

Regards
Lee

Have to agree,if it was easy to do ,Pajero seats are really comfy but they won't be a drop in fit. Sure they could be fitted but way beyond my skill level. Someone on here may have put them in their T2 ,though.

Ditto. I cant weld or DIY very well so looking for a straight swap. I can live with the seat but really hate the head rest - i think it would make the whole truck a pleasure to drive if it gave more support.

1. If you've got lumbar support in the seat (some have it) use it....

2. If you haven't, investigate swapping for a seat that has, but be careful in case you have seat side and head rest airbags (the MkIV does ) - if you do there will be tags stitched to the seat and h/r.

3. Try tipping the back of the seat back more and upping the front of the squab a bit but only til it supports the backs of your legs. When the seat is in a very upright position all the stress is straight down your spine and helps cause backache, whereas a tilted seat supports some of that weight and reduces the downward stress moment. If you find a problem reaching the steering wheel just slide the seat forward a bit.

4. Get after-market cruise control....if you have back problems, having your right leg jammed into a fixed position for a long time also causes your muscles to act abnormally. I find it a bloody godsend!!!

LOL , have a go in a land rover.........

i agree with that one!

I used to find the SWB terrano seats dont seem to go back far enough to give enough leg room, but there are draw backs with everyhting i suppose, shogun cabs are too narrow, and isuzu 3.1 seats give me indigestion on long journey's.

i agree with lacroupade on the upright driving thing i have been driving transit vans for years and the upright position has taken its toll in my back, i have swapped to driving a ford ranger a lot of the time now so i can sit back a little more.

Stick some decent after market seats in:thumb2
No need to weld as the T2 seat will unbolt off the subframe. Then you just bolt on the new one. with possibly a modifying plate drilled accordingly:D
See my bucket of pics it's easy:cool:

may be an old series l/r, but the newer model discoveries are, i think more comfortable than our t2, i reckon we will have a td5 disco as well next year, :augie well i will, missus likes the t2, so she can have it, :lol:naughty

I like mine, don't get aches and pains driving long distances, not as comfortable as my old jeep tho, that was very comfy :D

I find the stock seats in my S reg SWB to be more than acceptable. I weigh 19st, I'm 6'1", and like to sit fairly upright as I have arthritis in my spine, but I find I can travel massive mileages in more comfort that I could in my old Volvo S60...

Gotta say, the seats in my '98 LWB are fine. Good position, room to stretch. Marvellous.

Then again, I'm coming from modified performance cars, so the criteria are a tad different.

Some good ideas - will give 3 a try:thumb2.

My T2 has the lumbar support and the it is comfy enough for me bar the head rest! If it gave more support it would really help with enjoyment.

Well while you didn't really ought to be resting your head, I'm sure you could find a small foam pad or something that you could strap on?...and if anyone says "what about the headrest?".....:D
