insa - remold

fedima - problems reported on other forums

marix - remold

simex dont do the size i want

so how safe is a remold nowadays

Fedima are also remoUlds.

Many HGVs etc run remoulded tyres, many many off roaders do as do many rally cars - safe as any other tyre in my opinion - just don't epect em to last as long - or at least they don't in my experience.

i only want them as weekend tyres. ill get a spare set of rims

i wont be using them on the road unless the wife needs me to go shopping or get something from town that sort of thing

i like my runway enduro for driving to work and motorway etc

so what would you get

we got clay peet rock and lots of mud

how will my auto hubs and 4wd cope with these tyres

i do gently it in 4wd on tarmac between mud etc and when its icey no more than 30mph though

will i have to change my habits

Hi extreme-4x4
The Insa Turbo Special Track Tyre is a very aggressive off road tyre i have been very impressed with them taking my truck places i have never been able to go before. I do not use my car on the road but i have been told thay ware out quick if used on a every day car.
As for your auto hubs last weekend i smashed a AMV manual hub in to 8 bits with these tyres and thay are supposed to be better than the auto hubs.

We used to get discount from them.Well i did when mentioning club when i bought some stuff off them.

Hi extreme I got my trusty Insa turbos off ebay earlier this year. They're remoulds and I've left them on road too. They are noisyand do wear pretty quick BUT they're brill 8)
Really shift the mud out sideways (you dont want to be standing near me in the mud)and best of all hilarious on wet roundabouts
Cheap enough not too worry about off the bay.
Worst thing I think is you need to get used to needing more room to stop on tarmac....brake hard and they really howl big time :?

What insa's you got makeitfit - I've got dakars and they're pretty good on the road, I was quite surprised.

I would go for remoulds, they are as good as any other tyre and if you are doing alot of offroading it is likely you will damage the tyres before you wear them out. So the cheaper they are to replace the less worried you will be driving into an unknown situation.

Imagine spending £120 plus on each corner then hitting a sharp snapped off sapling with your sidewalls in the mud?

and sitting back with two new scrap tyres to replace?

It has been done and its no fun, so unles you have very deep pokets got for the economicaly viable option!

I think they're Sahara Rally something... sorry wasn't in the know when I got them.
I like them lots , but I bought them for off road originally But well I liked them so much they stayed on for those "just in case" shortcuts 8O
Ruddy sat nav :?

On close inspection it looks like the inner splines on the locking ring have worn this allowed them to try and push past the splines on the collar that goes over the Axel, this in turn put to much force on the ring splitting it in to 8 pieces.
They have done about 200 miles of hard off roading before thay gave in. If i had given them a bit more maintenance thay would probably have lasted longer you live and learn.
I am now looking at a way of doing away with the hubs altogether.

off road tyres

i had a set of these on my last t2 and they were very good off road and not too expensive.technic amazons.
