So, I've got this really high pitched whistle, which sounds as if it comes from offside front wheel, starts at about 15mph and stays all the way up, doesn't stop until I slow right down again to 15mph!

Any idea's clever people?????

It could be some crud like rust that has become trapped in the vanes of the front brake disc. Air rushing through a small gap = whistle.

Or a stone.

So when you are looking at the bearings, clean out the disc vanes.
CAUTION avoid breathing in the dust.

Also use brake degreaser on the rotors and the pads. CAUTION, do the other side as well otherwise you will have a brake imbalance.:doh

Just a thought while you are working in that area..

Best regards,

Richard

are you sure its the bearing? my mav used to do it. turned out it was the wind between the wing mirror and door. i filed the edge of the plastic casing and the noise stopped.
just a thought:thumbs

Whistle

Which plastic casing, on the mirror?
Mines Chrome!

Interesting because i get a whistle from the driver's side, the wing mirror sounds the right sort of area :thumb2

Just fold the mirror back and drive it, it should change the conditions.
