hi guys, im thinking about getting a tablet so i can use for mapping on lanes etc, any recommendations? also want to be able to use as normal tablet and a ereader as well

Really impressed with my lenovo :thumb2 Awesome battery life, really comfy to hold and seems pretty tuff build too :D

budget Tesco Hudl around £100, or Nexus 7 around £200, I have a Nexus 7 2012 tetherd to my Nexus 5 phone and using GE, ideal combination

Ive gone off Android based stuff but my son has a little Samsung with memory map on it. It works really well with the GPS.
I personally have an iPad and love it though Ive found one or two niggles. IPads dont have any storage like a documents foldr not sure if androids do.

Nexus 7 is brilliant.
I got mine as new for £130 from eBay.
But be careful buying second hand electricals

for out and about, maps etc, Lenovo all the way at the moment. The battery life is unbeatable.

do you need internet to run maps? just wondering if i can get away with wifi only or if im going to need one with a sim?

Make sure you choose a tablet with GPS built in :)
Then you can use mapping software like Alpinequest, or memory maps etc

as above, plus with the Lenovo Yoga range, you really don't need to worry about the battery lasting, and the display is very good in bright light - I use mine for IT support rather than a laptop, and its great. I haven't charged it now for about 2 weeks, though I admit I don't use it everyday for long even so, 2 weeks sat there being used for maybe 30 mins a day is pretty good in terms of battery life!
