Mark someone in that neck of the woods will be along soon; these trucks are very capable though - my advice would be remove sidesteps and towbar if you have them, very easy to do and refit....towbar is only six bolts and steps are six bolts per side. have fun! your lad will love it.

The key to it is just take it nice and slowly....ground clearance doesn't mean squat if you're bouncing from driving too fast.... :)

<waits for Extreme to appear>....

if you just want to try it out, there is the sand quarry just before junction 4 m5! not much mud but lots of sand and bumpy stuff :thumbs

Hi MArk do you mean offroading as in paying to play on private land, or do you mean Greenlaning, that is driving on largely unsurfaced roads and tracks which technically and legally isn't offroading?

Btw where in the W. Mids are you?

If its Greenalning you're most interested in then pop along tomyour nearest CRAG, GLASS or Mud Club meeting and you'll be able to arrange an outing with someone experienced there.

i never went to that trouble and had some great fun, bit of scraping but saw steps
and towbar protecting sills and tank.

your terrano is one of most capable trucks on market even in road trim. see what it
can do for you before doing anything drastic.

would suggest gentle greenlaning with fellow members is best intro. pay and play sites
brings out the gungho in folks and more likely to cause damage on unsuitable, for their
trucks, ground. stay away from private ground unless formally authorised as best way
to get truck impounded and prosecuted, really not worth it.

TTT2, I found that towbar definitely gets in the way because its so far out, same is having a bullbar on the front reduces your approach angle, so better with it off really IMHO.

Think when you say private land you mean ROWs that aren't authorised for vehicles, e.g. footpath....there you most definitely WILL get clobbered. Private land is a totally different kettle of fish and covered by the common law of trespass which, despite what many people think, is a purely civil matter, nothing to do with the police.

And thats NOT to start a row (had enough of that for this week and learned my lesson!), its partly to clarify and partly to emphasise the much more important issue of not driving on routes used by the public but not designated for vehicle traffic - I see that as a much bigger threat to the reputation of the 4x4 community TBH.

nope, if meant row would said so. land as areas ie old quarries, off piste of GLs, commons
etc. believe that its a section 59 that means points and loss of truck, clearly any
incident will be uninsured too.

personally i wouldnt go there as our old friend Shark1e found out he was getting sand out of every nook and cranny for months and months.

i would adventure out on greenlanes with a group(who have experience) as they can be less demanding(sometimes)
