Hi all, anyone managed to get a front ant-roll bar for a terrano?
due to the unique way a local garage changed my drop links the holes in the roll bar have been wearing and are now elongated, hence I have a knocking sound.
anyone got any experiece with the front anti-roll bar? I have the chap from euro car parts telling me it's the steering rack but I'm unconvinced so thought I'd ask some people who actually know their stuff!
cheers

matt

how did they fit the droplinks so they wore like that?, where in the midlands are you? i have one and can fit it properly for you

You can also tell your euro prat that there is no steering rack on the T2 :doh
Richo will sort it for you :D

Cheers for the replies guys, I'm actually near High Wycombe now, just hadnt updated my info! Where abouts in the midlands are you Richo? Hopefully coming up next couple of weekends to visit the family so maybe get a visit to a fellow t2 fan!

When I had the drop links done the mechanic said they were seized solid and had to be drilled out, my guess is they were over zealous with the drill, then got them as tight as they could but not tight enough to stop them moving around slightly, as they've moved they've worn more and more, now the hole in the roll bar is so elongated there's no chance of getting them tight enough apparently.

Matt

Is the elongated hole actually in the ARB or the wishbones? Never heard of drilling them out :lol Angle grinder is king round here :sly
It can be welded up and then drilled out and I'm sure Richo can sort that, just bring your own fire extinguisher :lol:lol
Wishbone holes can be welded up too, or the simpler fix is some big washers top and bottom :thumb2 Simples

Where abouts in the midlands are you Richo?

ummm its says over there <<<< :lol derby m8, as makeitfit says cant see why they would drill it far easier just to remove the arb and angle grine the little blighters off, i'm sure we can fix it :sly

I am near Hastings, and have a couple or more kicking about, Rick

Oops, hadn't seen Derby in your profile <<<< lol:doh
Spoke to the garage today and managed to clear up a couple of things. I'd got the wrong end of the stick slightly. Looks like the drop links were cut off rather than drilled out, hence the roll bar wasn't damaged at that point, but it looks like they didn't remove the roll bar to enable tightening of the drop links on the bench, they did it on the car, were unable to get them tight enough because of access and they've moved and worn the roll bar.
Does this sound more accurate, should the drop links be done on the bench rather than on the car to get them tight enough?

Cheers for all the offers of help guys, I'm going to have to work out whether we're going to visit family and maybe get the roll bar done at the same time!

Matt

aye you can tighten it a lot better with it off the truck, also makes it a quicker job

Tbh who ever did that job is a total numpty and just plain dangerous to be working on cars

Gordon Bennett there's plenty of bloody room there to tighten a fookin' nut ffs  Your garage monkeys are taking the piss :doh
I hope you haven't paid the prats
I reckon even Jeromy Clarkson could do the drop links with boxing gloves on and shouting POWER :lol

definitely would not trust my car with them ever, so they cannot tighten a nut ffs, what other nuts have they not tightened? Rick
