As above gents, mine had developed a lovely crack in it and now needs to be replaced before the MOT.

I'll be doing it myself at home after seeing Jonela's fantastic thread a while ago, just need to source a screen :doh

Can anyone help?

national windscreens i used last it was £150 fitted they may supply just the screen though worth a ring

Supplied and fitted £184, no contest Zac, not worth the hassle of doing it yourself, Rick

Cheers Rick, reason I want to do it myself is because of the leak that I had from the old windscreen that I've recently sealed up.

I don't want to book a guy, him get there, remove the screen and then find out that the frame is corroded and needs to be repaired/welded or whatever and then have to re-book and potentially pay an additional cost for them to refit the screen at a later date.

I'd rather have the screen and the kit at my own disposal and then tackle the job myself when I know it's ready to go in. If I do have to leave the screen out for any period of time I'll try and source some of that automotive clear tape that we use here at work when we have to move cars around outside that have headlamp units missing for example. That should keep the interior dry if it does decide to rain :doh

Plus!!! Not done a windscreen before so wan't to tick that one off my list.

I've bonded side rear windows into my Maverick but a windscreen is a little different

Surely you could remove the screen yourself, check it out and clean it up, and then get them to come and fit the new one when you are ready, they are normally available the next day. After all, if you find a problem, you are going to have to cover the hole while you work on it, so you will need to have something to hand already.

I am normally up to having a go at most things, and have done a couple of the old type windscreens that go into a rubber seal, but having had a few "glued in" windscreens done over the years, and the special kit they use, I don't think I would want to try and do one myself.

Yes Zac I am in the same boat, the screen has gone because of rust expansion lower off side so plan is to book them for replacement and remove screen the day before, do the repair and let them put it all back together, we have windscreen cover but I have not researched that as yet, as a long standing problem my feeling is that they may not cover it, Rick

What's your method of repair for that area Rick? Have you tackled a job like this before?

It seems very common on these motors, I had the fault starting to develop on my Maverick before it was crashed into so never got around to fixing it :doh

Cut out the rot and weld in new metal, on mine it is only about 50mm long and 25mm deep, but forced the screen out a little causing a crack that has been there for the last 2 mot's but now a section of the outer glass laminate has nearly fallen out due to water getting between the laminate, I cleaned it up about a year ago and applied some underseal to the metal but guess the water getting between the glass sheets has fed the rust from behind, Rick
