Wheel Studs

Ok hear is my problem had all the wheels off today 1 by 1 to clean the arches and underseal as well as putting copper slip on the wheels to stop them welding to the hubs as has happened to me many times before on land rovers etc. Any way on my last wheel front passenger I found 1 stud almost stripped of thread and the nut in bad shape all the others ok so must have been a tyre fitter last time they came off, he must have cross threaded it and buggered it up any way I did a temp fix recut the thread to clean it out and recut the bolt but now I need a new bolt and stud if it can be replaced ? that's my question can you just replace 1 stud and bolt on a 2005 2.7 ltr terrano LWB ?

Yes you can, thought I needed to do this but I got away with just a nut. Have you tried a nut first? :thumb2

Studs are available at your local motor factors
It's a fiddle but you can change them with the hub in place. You need to use a socket of suitable size behind the hub so you can give the stud a good twatting without stressing the bearing. On the refit of the new stud you'll have the problem of reseating it properly. First off feel very carefully for the stud to relocate back into the existing spline holes. Then tighten up with your nut till the stud is fully home. That may not happen easily. So check that wheel nut frequently to be sure it's ok.
OR just drop the caliper and take the hub off :lol

Damn it you're right Rick :doh It's the back I was confused with. Just been rebuilding mine so got all excited with my smart arse answer, oops.
Yep front hub off and disc off , sorry.
My description is fine for the back though :lol

maybe its age but mine is 2005 and has 17 " wheels and it looks like a spacer will take a pic tomoz if I get time.

Remove the 6 nuts that hold the fixed drive hub in place, and the metal cup from the hub (few knocks with a hammer towards you) remove circlip from shaft, remove hub, remove two x head screws and undo bearing ring,!!!!!! hang on I am sure this is already in the downloads, Rick

yes plus remove the brake caliper (two bolts) worst job is pressing the brake disk off of the hub some you can knock off with a soft faced hammer but I have had some really tight ones, Rick

Dose it weld to the hub a bit like alloy wheels do on the other side is it a face fit or over a axel ?

Yes, it is a very tight fit to separate the hub from the rotor.

i have the identical car to yours maxnorthwest i replaced the front discs last year not a hard job but youll need an extension bar to crack the caliper carrier bolts, hubs where a tight fit but came apart with some gentle persuision
