Front wheel bearings can be adjusted quite easily, it depends what "shot" means, if a bit of play, then adjust.
Jack up, wheel off, auto hub off, 6 allen bolts, remove circlip and brake rings, then you will see a ring with two pozidrive headed screws, remove these and the ring, then tighten the inner ring slightly, until play gone, then refit outer ring with the pozidrive screws, might need to rotate inner ring to align the screws to next nearest hole etc.
Take care after removing the circlip that you don't push the shaft back, as it takes some effort to get it back, by pushing from the other side...:doh
Grease hub, there is a down load for this, when fitting the allen bolts, do not over tighten or they will shear, use a torque wrench.

If they have fallen apart or rumble with excess play, then replace.
I have never changed front wheel bearings on mine in 18 years and close to 100k miles but if they have been submerged and not regreased, then they could be wrecked.

Shot not really a technical is it !

You normally hear them of they are badly worn. Would try adjustment first
