Still having continuing issues on the locking system.

If any fine folks know what the problem is please help me.

WHAT I DID:

I got the beast 2 years ago and central locking worked tempermental sometimes would work, sométier not. So the other week I tried to hook up a after market unit from eBay and balled it up making a big spark and then the central locking was 100% dead. Having to manually lock and unlock each door individually.

WHAT I DID AFTER:

I purchased another "tested and working" cont assembly doorlock unit. And that got power back to the central locking so I must have killed the original one but still not working properly so also changed the frequency control box too but didn't make a difference.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW:

When the car is locked up I put the key in driver door and it opens my door only. And using my inside door lock handle does not lock or unlock other doors. When I turn the key to Acc all doors unlock thrn relock, and then I can lock / unlock all doors using the passenger doorlock lever but not the drivers, but only with they key on Acc or engine on. Once key is out of barrel again levers do nothing not even passenger. But out of car I use key in driver door to lock and all doors lock.... but will not unlock them all again

I know this really is a lot to read and get your head around or it is for me anyway but I'm loosing my mind:(

if it works with key in the ignition then NATS is reading the key chip, if you have a plip I bet it does not work, if so try programming it as per the downloads, it might then come back to life, also on the drivers door lock there is a small add on plastic part as far as I remember that I once had a problem with, it was not switching properly and so central locking would not work forget what I did thou, Rick

OK I have been re reading your problem and done some experimenting and checking, the result of this is it has to be the micro switch or associated wiring to the drivers exterior door handle this switch plugs into the harness near the drivers door lock connector block, I will enclose a switch and lead with you spacer, but it may not be the switch or lead I supply as it could be a chaffed wire between door and body, but it is this switch or wire pair causing the problem, first thing to do is pull the plug and connect a meter set to ohms the operate the drivers door lock with the key and check the results on way it will read zero ohms the other infinity, it must do this repeatedly as you operate the key, one failure then replace the switch and lead, no failures check the rest of the wire back to the control unit, this is the rectangular box, Rick

Driver door fault makes sence. I noticed yesterday that if I close the door softly the doors don't react. But if I slam or close my driver door with any sort of force all the doors lock. With the others doors being in some sort of dead lock mode. I sent you an email

Did you get my email? ☺

I know, been busy, which boot rubber did you want, the one on the door or at top of body? Rick

Is it locking on it's own if you shut the drivers door hard ? if it is then try unplugging the micro switch on the back of the door lock (plug for it is at bottom part of door) mine went faulty & either locked me out or locked me in once unplugged never had a problem again just alarm won't set if locking with key which I don't anyway

I just sent him another switch with a bush for the Audi CPK sensor, glad you said about the switch as that was what I came down to in the end, Rick

I put a thread up about it a couple of months ago & i'm sure you mentioned your wife's truck did it time to time Rick. Couldn't get my door lock out as I couldn't get the clip off the back of the lock so I could get at the micro switch as I was going to replace it it's stopping as it is now:lol Been told it's a very common problem on VW's as one of my mates used to work for them
