Have to correct you old bean.....the Tunit II fits all 2.7 Terranos and Mavericks...the wiring is just different depending on what ECU you have.
I installed mine originally in a round headlight MkII, then removed it and put it into a MkIV, then just been removed again and stuck on the wifes MkIII..... one had Bosch, the other two Hitachi MAFs.
Theres not much difference between the two MAFs except that the Hitachi is a lot more accurate than the Bosch apparently - in fact if you google a bit there are several motorsport applications where they supply a conversion kit to go from Bosch to Hitachi because the former starts to get very flaky when you get to Stage 3 engine mods.....
I tow a 26ft bailey with my 4.2d patrol(non turbo) and find hills a drag but just keep the old girl in the torque band and have no problems. Yes i would like a bit more power but like others have said whats a few mph in the grand scheme of things. If your happy with ur truck other than power issue i would be inclined to keep it. Just my opinion
We went to Grafham near Cambridge last weekend. Took the old Patrol 4.2 with three of us and all our kit and two 18ft catamarans on the back. The trailer too was full of gear. Probably only about a tonne but the aero dynamics of a dutch barn:lol
Anyway up the old girl didn't even know we were there, tugged the whole lot at 65-70 mph and just ticks over at around 2200 RPM
Not the most economical beast but it is a beast and got me 24 to the gallon:clap That's on bio ofcourse :naughty
Will be fitting a turbo soon :naughty:naughty:naughty
