Now and again feels like clutch slips at random times I've done the handbrake on and 3rd gear with revs to see if it'll slip but don't it stalls so could this be this clutch damper playing up

Mines on the way out I reckons, it's really hard to engage gears, 1st and 2nd are awful when cold, the slave is "creaking" when the pedal is depressed and brought back up also looks like it may have been leaking fluid from the bleed nipple

Mine goes into gear no probs even when cold clutch pedal feels good. Bite is a bit high but it'll slip at random times and a very light press on pedal with allow it to slip

Why don't you adjust the pedal like I did on my Maverick to move the bite back to the bottom of the pedal?

Adjustment is a mixture of in the engine bay and in the footwell.

2 bolts secure the master cylinder and a clevis pin the pedal side, knock that out and adjust the thread until the bite is right :thumb2

If the damper is on its way it will be leaking and the pedal will become spongy.
I had no warning signs when mine went, one minute it worked then bang.

I'm thinking clutch is getting near its time. It's still origonal one and I've gave it a bit of grief in the three years I've had it. With off roading. caravaning. And heavy trailers in general

So next question do I stick am uprated one in or stick with an original spec one. I'm not into cheap gear so the ones I've been looking at are around 100quid for luk one or 150-200 for exedy

Just seen milners one is exedy for 108 including vat. Might go for that

costs about £1.50 to do the damper, might aswell do it for piece of mind

Could be that pesky slave cylinder on its way out, I had some slippage only in 3rd n 4th but went after changing both master & slave cylinders & bleed of course.

What's the damper? Mine struggles getting into gears sometimes. Especially from cold. Trying to figure what the problem is.

I've had a new clutch recently..

Was the gear oil changed when they did the clutch, could be old oil or wrong grade of oil but I can't tell you the grade.
Not all terranos had the damper but easy to spot. It's a pipe a bit thicker than a brake pipe that goes from the bell housing to just above the rear axle.
Got a bleed nipple at the end above axle and joins the block on the end of the flexi hose near the slave cylinder.
