i dont suppose you read Total Offroad?
if not, their Patrol (like yours, '03 plate) had a custom hidden mount made at the front by a place called
4x4-R-Us. you can see pics of it
here, just scroll down to the bottom.
as for winches, you could go all out and get something like a Warn or Superwinch, but youll probably need to re mortgage your house to do so :lol:
or you could buy a Champion (like TOR did for the Patrol) or a Goodwinch. now there cheaper, but that doesnt necessarily mean that there built 'cheap'. ive heard some very good things about them. Champions top of the range model, the C9500TDS, is £300+ cheaper than Warns equivalent!! i know i would get one if i needed one.
when deciding what weight to go for, ive heard you calculate your cars kerb weight, then add a tonne. so for your patrol, i would probably recommend no less than 8000 pounds, 9000 would be better.
