So got nearly £60 due from cashback site as either PayPal or Amazon vouchers (already got £30 of these too) to spend that's all MINE!! :thumb2 Anything purchased can fly under the radar with SWMBO!

Now the problem is, what to spend it on? :nenau (No, I'm not making donations towards anyone's ME fund either!) thought you guys may like to join in a bit of retail therapy :)

Obviously I need many a thing, want many more, but have thought on the following and can't decide/don't know what type/make to get:

Axle stands - don't have any, so need a pair, any recommendations?
Torque wrench - as above
Cycle carriers - Hopefully Pete's sending me a tow bar soon, so probably better to hang stuff off that rather than spare wheel. Roof bars are a long way up! - although I do have 4 roof carriers already!
Rust treatment/prevention - well I have enough rust to spend thousands here! :doh
Spare front wings for a Mk1 - anyone have any?
Use it to reduce the cost of a welder - I've never welded, but I know a man who can.
Put towards new tyres - a touch boring!
Exciting extras for a Mk1 SE that I haven't thought of?

Oh the list is endless :lol suggestions on a postcard as they say!

welding machine!

im planning to buy one, so I can weld my sills up in the future...

Hmmm, £90
Half a decent tyre , less than half a years tax :(, One full tank of diesel :doh
Soooo, why not go and do something rad :sly you and a mate go Indoor Skydiving :) Half a day twatting about on a rally car course :D or my favorite go away for the weekend with your mates and get squiffy :beer

has to be beer! :thumb2

Couple of bottles of really good malt...:naughty

A blow up doll. That way you your purchase will always have the same value as you can control inflation ! :D:lol:

Cheers guys, didn't take long to head to drink, should've guessed really being a virtual pub! :doh

Trouble is, none of those will fly under the radar and 4wheel, we all know that inflation can be ruined by just one prick! Rustic, nice idea, could add to the collection of half finished one's in the cupboard.

Ryan, how much for wings? condition, colour? maybe I should just come over and see what you have instead of buying a bit at a time off you!

Any suggestions on good Axle stands or torque wrenches on Amazon?

So, as I have no where near deep enough pockets to buy SnapOn tools, I've had a quick squint at tools on Amazon and wondered just how bad the following might be?

Axle Stands: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-763620-Tonne-Piece-Stand/dp/B000WTHL42/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Tall enough for a Mavrano? Strong enough?

Torque Wrench: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-633567-Torque-Wrench/dp/B000LFTSG6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I know, Silverline tools are pretty poo, but surely it'll be better than me guessing? Any others I should look at instead

The axle stands look the part as does the t/w but I just hate Amazon............
Have you looked at Halfords stuff? They seem reasonable but have a bloody good g/tee on their stuff :thumb2

I know what you mean Pete, but the cashback site give a little bit more if it's in Amazon vouchers, either that or I get credit to Paypal. They can also credit my bank account but at that point it's hit the radar!!

A minor bind, but hey, it's 'free' money  as the stuff I got cashback on, I was going to buy in the first place. I've had a total of a shaving over £400 from them in the past couple of years - non too shabby :thumb2

ive got similar axle stands but are rated for higher loads (6 ton) and go upto 60cm

£20 from ebay for 2 delivered.

yes they are them, Don't think they fit under the chassis unless you jack it up.

Which you do in most cases.

Rust proofing if you're keeping it, 90 litres of svo if you're not...:nenau

So, having spent a bit of time yesterday underneath trying to do a bit of oil changing, I feel a pair of Axle stands are a must and a Torque wrench so I can pop off the passengers wheel and get to the oil filter through the arched window. I must be getting fat, there's less space under there that I hoped! (Torque wrench obviously to tighten the wheel nuts properly - nobody wants their nuts too tight )

Now a couple of additional questions for you all;

1) I have the standard bottle jack and a long straight handle under the rear seats, is there supposed to be something that goes on the end of this to turn it?

2) Once I've finally got access to my oil filter, what's the best wrench to use to remove? My fuel filter was obviously fitted by a hairy ar$ed gorilla on steroids so I expect my oil filter will have similar resistance to movement, plus it seems to be seeping ever so slightly from the filer seal (yeah, it is tight, couldn't budge it yesterday from above) so is covered in a fine sheen of oil to assist grip. :doh Would this style fit in there?

3) Anyone know the sizes of the various copper washers (if any) that may need replacing?

I always thought the location of the oil filter on the 2.7 was crap, I used to remove the air filter pipe work and then it was a bit easier to remove. If they have been put on by said gorilla, try to wipe as much oil off first and use a rubber clove as this helped grip the filter.
The other problem I found was there are 2 different sized threaded holes where the filter screws onto. My first oil change, I ruined a new filter because I always fill the filter with oil then fit it, this is when I found out that that the one supplied by a local factors "only one filter for theses engines mate" did not fit, so I bought one from the main dealers.
The guy at the factors was not happy when I returned the oil filter and got my money back, He did state there is only one filter:nenau

The oil filter on the 3.0 is sooo much easier to change and even has a tray under it with a pipe that allows oil from the filter to exit under the car, not all over the engine:thumbs

Cheers firebobby, rubber clove - I know you meant glove, but I can't help but think along the lines of spitting image and the rubber chickens now! :lol

I've also seen a set of mole grips specifically for oil filters that, as mole grips usually do, clamp on to the filter, anyone tried such things? I'll need something get leverage as being an IT geek I don't have anything like gorilla arms!

I know about smacking a big screwdriver through it to get the thing off, but I use this truck as my daily commute, so would rather leave it intact until I know for sure it's coming off one way or the other! Once, if, the weather improves I'll consider cycling to work again and then it won't matter so much if it's off the road for a day or two.

Rustic, nice idea, could add to the collection of half finished one's in the cupboard.

Ideal then,
How do you hide a bottle of whisky. :nenau

Just place it amongst the other bottles.

Won't get noticed... :thumb2

Rustic, I have a friend who works at a large whisky distribution centre, a VERY good friend, so I have no problems keeping the cupboard stocked!

Now about this ere oil filter, any wrench advise - would really like to know if any can get the darn thing off without removing the wheel as I'm fairly sure when the inner wing flaps come off, half the inner wing might just try and come with it :doh

I assume from the manual, I should have a wheel brace with a hole in it for the jack - where 'should' that be in case it's hiding?
