As Clivvy says, no maf on the 2.7 TD, ie non intercooler version.:thumb2

....which explains why its such a basic, old-fashioned looking ECU with only two plugs and half a dozen wires. The later ones have three MAHOOSIVE plugs and about a zillion wires.

Which probably explains why the TD has fewer problems, less to go wrong.:thumb2
 
But having said that, how many identifiable ECU problems do we see?:confused:
Not many, it tends to be the sensors that cause the problems, eg MAF, Crank Position Sensor, No 1 injector etc.

..all of which I assume are required to squeeze the extra horses out of the i/c installation....??

Extra horses and the lower emissions and in some areas, improved mpg.

My 2.7TD gives out 100hp, the wifes diesel picasso 1.6 Hdi 110 hp and gives 50 mpg
I know which one I prefer for towing though...:nenau
 
i was doing more work today on myswb and found this ECU thingy in the dash. any ideas on what it is?

this is a deisel ecu listed below is the nissan parts listing on your numbers
